Example of a classic kitchen design in San Francisco with white cabinets, beige backsplash, ceramic backsplash and beaded inset cabinets

When we first met, this classic 1900 home in Queen Anne was suffering from an unfortunate 1980’s remodel. The owner was interested in recapturing some of the historical charm with a modern sensibility, while celebrating the breath-taking views of Puget Sound and the Space Needle.
Custom details included woven blackened steel infill panels in the white oak cabinets, bookmatched marble back-splashes and countertops, bespoke brass and walnut light fixtures, and a hand-troweled venetian plaster hood surround.
The kitchen was equipped with top-notch appliances for this accomplished home cook, and ample storage was provided for gadgetry and food-stuffs.

This creative transitional space was transformed from a very dated layout that did not function well for our homeowners - who enjoy cooking for both their family and friends. They found themselves cooking on a 30" by 36" tiny island in an area that had much more potential. A completely new floor plan was in order. An unnecessary hallway was removed to create additional space and a new traffic pattern. New doorways were created for access from the garage and to the laundry. Just a couple of highlights in this all Thermador appliance professional kitchen are the 10 ft island with two dishwashers (also note the heated tile area on the functional side of the island), double floor to ceiling pull-out pantries flanking the refrigerator, stylish soffited area at the range complete with burnished steel, niches and shelving for storage. Contemporary organic pendants add another unique texture to this beautiful, welcoming, one of a kind kitchen! Photos by David Cobb Photography.

Movable plexiglass panels allow for customized storage, keeping foodstuffs easily organized, separated, and visible. Quality dovetail joints ensure that these custom cabinets will withstand generations of use.

A walk-in pantry houses additional foodstuffs and small appliances, keeping the kitchen itself uncluttered and clean. Access to the new laundry is through the swinging door to the left of the cooktop area. Both are done in frosted glass to allow for maximum light spread.

Custom built in wet bar with open shelving and glass doors for displaying items. Cabinetry is finished in a weathered stain wtih a glaze. Crown molding and light valance molding finish off the upper cabinetry. Interior of cabinets with glass doors is stained to match the exterior.

A galley kitchen makes this addition a complete home. Plenty of wooden cabinets for storage, and a pantry for foodstuffs.
