When we met these homeowners, they had been gradually updating areas over time and they chose us to help reinvent their family room and master bath.
The family room’s inspiration was Florida Coastal, which is our clients’ home away from home. We were charged with bringing in light and bright elements that remind them of the beach. The textural elements, along with watercolors achieved this look. We finished the room off with a nod to mid-century modern in a few pieces just to give the room some unique personality.
In the master bath, the homeowners were excited to do something different and out of their comfort zone….enter black tile! An entire wall of beautiful, soft black undulated squares gives a high contrast to the rest of the white tones in the space and earned high marks with our homeowners. The wood appointments add a softened organic touch to ensure it’s not too sterile.

I love a client that has my taste in décor. Making this client a dream to work with. First things started with the kitchen layout which was horrendous, then gradually we worked our way though to baths rooms. After that the flooring and paint colors gave this coastal wonder the shine it deserves.

Gradual stairs made of concrete slabs, softened by elfin thyme between them, lead up to the arching front door of this home. A side path from the garage keeps the house easily accessible to any tenants or guests.

The changes in shade happen in a gradual and balanced manner. It begins with the light textured concrete grey from the wall units, working through the refined and minimalist bespoke grey from the glass splashback and finally reaches the darker mineral grey from the base units.

This project involved the development of a landscape plan that would modernize the exterior of this newly remodeled ski home. Implementation of the plan included new walkways, patio areas, and plantings. A series of retaining walls and stairs allowed for gradual transition of the grades between the front door and the driveway.

This 1967 home has been transformed. LANTERN HOUSE is located at the edge of the forest, the edge of urbanity, where the glass and metal clad entry and stair volumes glow like lanterns in the night. The sloping, trapezoidal site posed challenges, resulting in a very unique geometry with a courtyard, a bridge, and a new stair tower link old to new. A new porch and foyer create a gradual entry sequence into the existing main house. A new roof form provides vaulted ceilings in an open plan concept. The primary living spaces are connected to private outdoor spaces for entertaining and everyday living, and the main addition contains a private master retreat with secluded access from the stair tower. The connection with nature is ever present throughout the house with intentionally placed glazing framing views to the surrounding trees.

Photo by Suzanne Little. Beautiful original teak ceilings. We whitewashed the barn board walls and brick to lighten things up, painted the beams white to accent the lines of gradually slanted roof. I did a faux marble paint treatment to the propane fireplace surround on the floor until we re-tile it. It was an ugly rust coloured vinyl.

The plan for this ezpansive home usede the corner location of an irregularly shaped plot to create a beautifully curved carriage poach, with a roof made of two-centimeter thick, five meter-wide sections of tempered glass. The entrance follows a gradual process from public to private spaces, from a salon for meeting guests, through a buffer zone to two living rooms that create a sence of intimacy for family and friends. The calm space of the second living room is an excellent place to gather around the central fireplace. Up several stairs is the first living room, a more lively atmosphere with the outdoor pool as a backdrop.
The pool area has all the facilities−benches and parasols−of a tropical resort. While many luxury homes are closed off to the outside, this shows how an open approach can be dynamic and powerful. TOTAL FLOOR AREA:245.11㎡

Studio Ponsi
Located on a beach on the San Francisco Bay, the house is conceived as a pin-wheel composition of 4 pavilions around an interior courtyard. In order to minimize the visual impact, the 900 sq mt building develops on one floor gradually stepping down towards the beach. The environmental oriented design includes strategies for natural ventilation, passive solar energy and 100% electrical energy autonomy supported by an array of 110 sq. mt of photovoltaic cells mounted on the roof and on solar glass canopies. Glass sliding doors and windows, wood slats ventilated walls and copper roofing constitute the exterior skin of the building.
