The spectacular view of the Piano Room can be seen from all angles of the grand foyer and staircase. To accent the architecture of the arched transom window, I anchored the space with a round area rug in blue. The graceful silhouette of the “Capri” sectional by Weinman plays into the circular inspiration perfectly. To create a lovely conversational space, I added two Kravet slipper chairs. The furnishings in this jaw-dropping piano room are not only gorgeous, but their light cream colors will hold up under all of the entertaining that these homeowners will inevitably do in this space because the fabrics are Kravet Crypton. The pièce de résistance of this room is the down lit original artwork. The collection is hand-curated and a mixed-medium of photography and acrylic. The ethereal images of vapors rising are resin-coated on canvas. The colors were custom-dyed to match the gorgeous Scalamandre wall covering upon which they hang. A true “wow-factor.”

These clients have a large family with teen kids and wanted a modern updated basement to accommodate their social activities and draw the kids to their house to hang out. With plenty of room in the basement, we designed a full-service bar, equipped with a sink, dishwasher drawers, icemaker, beverage refrigerator and liquor storage. Framing was added over the bar to accentuate the shape of the bar and give the feeling of a floating bulkhead. A wall of glass mosaic was added to give texture and depth to the space, along with a leather upholstered overlay on the front of the bar. The counter tops are a combination of Quartz and Eucalyptus wood with poured resin over the top for protection. There is a lounge area with a projection TV and 84” wide screen with plenty of seating and storage for games. The other end of the basement hosts a ping pong table set aside for the serious players. The existing lighting was removed and a new lighting layout with fixtures were installed to address any activities that might be occurring in the various spaces. The end result is an incredible living space in the basement for both the teens and their friends, as well as the adults to enjoy games on the big screen as well as a rambunctious game of ping pong.

The Hunter Sofa, long, low and luxe modern with The Bastille Chair, with its swinging ‘70s vibe and iconic modern style, will quickly become the favorite seats in the house. Add a little shimmer to the space with a special side table, cast in resin from the trunk of a tree and silver leafed, and to complete the room, Transition, the set of two panels, inspired by tessellation, a design using repeated shapes in a style reminiscent of Dutch graphic artist M.C. Escher.

This closet was designed to accommodate an existing access panel. The Hanging section was strategically placed by it for easy access when maintenance is required.

This staircase got a light, airy, contemporary facelift. We removed the heavy, dark original stairs and added a curved staircase with wrought iron balusters and wood handrail. The contemporary light fixture hangs through the middle of the stairs through all three levels of the home. The custom designed, custom made accent wall was created with back lit 3-form poly-resin panels and was framed with Douglas Fir to tie it into the stair treads.

This expansive kitchen space features a cooking area with island, a breakfast nook, a sitting area, and a cocktail bar zone, creating an integrated work/play/dine gathering space for a large family. The homeowner wanted to keep the space fairly neutral and efficient as well as reflect the lakeside location, without being overly nautical. A Muriel Cloud chandelier from Oly Studio hangs above the breakfast table, defining and anchoring that space. The balls are handmade resin globes.
