Some clients have such great taste, that it’s easy to help create the kitchen of their dreams. Our client in this case had such passion for the design of her own kitchen that it made it such a fun collaborative experience that you don’t always get with clients. She put her heart and soul into making sure every detail was exactly the way she wanted. This kitchen is only a small piece of a well-appointed home. The 1” thick custom door (from Bilotta’s private custom cabinet collection), traditionally styled, yet not overly so, matches beautifully with the details of the adjacent rooms. The grey colored cabinetry blends with the colors in the adjoining rooms creating the perfect centerpiece. The client chose a massive stone Francois & Co. Toulouse Shelf w/ Concave Stack hood from a dealer in London and had it shipped over on a boat! She selected beautiful “Mother of Pearl” knobs from Anthropologie and adorned select cabinets with them like pieces of jewelry. The naturally pearlescent clay tile, the Quartzite countertops and the lanterns above the island were all chosen to mirror these knobs. The lanterns were also chosen to replicate the movement of the gold pattern in the knobs. The client opted to turn the tile on the diagonal as it felt more fluid and in keeping with the movement in the knobs and lanterns. The stone hood, tile, and quartzite sample coordinated perfectly. The room was equipped with a mix of SubZero Wolf and Miele appliances with a Kohler apron sink. The space of course has the perfect amount of accessories for making it more than just visually appealing – it’s a baker’s dream with a lift up for a frequently used mixer. There’s a built-in paper towel holder and just the right amount of utensil dividers, cutlery dividers, tray dividers, roll-outs and even a secret pantry with matching cabinetry hidden in the corner.

The Touchstone Sideline Steel Electric Fireplace takes all the features of our popular Sideline glass faced fireplace, but brings it to you in a matte black steel face design, ideal for more traditional room settings. In place of the glass face of the standard Sideline, the Sideline Steel offers a black steel frame, with the heating element and logset behind a classic fireplace screen, lending to its more classic look. It's ideal for dens, basements or any room where a standard fireplace is being replaced or was never installed.
The Touchstone Sideline Steel Electric Fireplace was designed to meet the needs of contractors and do-it-yourself installers, who are looking for the realistic flame of a Touchstone fireplace mounted flush to a wall. By eliminating the glass surface, the design lends itself to less modern installations.
Like standard Sidelines, the heating element is in the front of the fireplace, so the flame and heat vent are situated near each other. Add the metal fire screen to the 5100 BTUs of heat, and you have a dramatically realistic flameset, all with no smoky smell or mess of a real fireplace. The Sideline Steel has 2 heat settings (high and low), and will heat a room up to 400 sq. ft. Also, the fireplace's flame can be used without the heating feature. The Sideline Steel is easy to install and comes with simple and understandable instructions.
Realistic Flame
The heart of Touchstone's electric fireplaces is the flame itself. We tell our customers the flame will go beyond your expectations, and the feedback we receive confirms it. The flames deliver the same relaxing effect of real flames, without the smell or mess, and it looks great in any room of the house. With the 5 settings offered by the Sideline Steel, ranging from a dim glow to a full fire blaze, you have the power to adjust the flame intensity based on your desired mood or lighting of the room with the control features on your unit’s remote.
The Sideline Steel features a 5100 BTU heating element, allowing you to recess your electric fireplace into the wall while also providing heat through the vent in the front of the unit. The Sideline Steel offers two heat settings, which are quick to heat up a room up to 400 sq. ft. The classic fireplace look of the Sideline Steel along with the heating element will immediately change your room. Your electric fireplace’s heat settings can be controlled using the remote or the controls on the front of the unit, and you also have the option of controlling the heat by setting the Sideline Steel built-in heat timer for up to 7.5 hours.
Now Comes With BOTH Faux Log and Glass Crystals -
Exclusive to All Touchstone Sideline Series Fireplaces
All Sideline Series Fireplaces now come with BOTH glass crystals and a faux log set. For a contemporary feel, install the glass crystals in your Sideline Series Fireplace. For a more traditional look, install the faux log set in your Sideline Series Fireplace. The Sideline Series Fireplace ships with both options, so you can choose the look that is right for you.
Mounting and Use
The Sideline Steel electric fireplace is versatile. Designed for insertion in your wall, it can also be mounted to your wall. Instructions for mounting and install come with the fireplace, and we recommend you follow the simple instructions provided. We do recommend placing your Sideline Steel at least 20” below your ceiling or 12” below your mounted flat screen because of its heating feature.

An old client and inveterate wine collector had purchased a new home and had asked MH Akers Custom Homes to transform an oversized upstairs closet into a wine cellar. He was looking for perfect wine storage conditions and functionality as well as a little jewel box of a space. We created, together with the client, a rough sketch of the layout and specifications then stripped the walls and ceiling of their drywall and the floor of its carpet and subfloor. A vapor barrier was installed on the warm sides of the walls, floor, and ceiling then polyurethane to seal cracks and finally blown cellulose insulation.
Grand_Wine_CellarFaced with an isolated second floor space, we didn’t have the luxury of access to the outside for placement of the cooling condenser unit. Working with our HVAC contractor and WineGuardian wine specialists, we chose a package unit to be placed in the attic above the wine storage room. In order to manage the ventilation of the unit itself, we ducted in from the shaded eaves of the home condenser intake air. Condenser exhaust air was ducted out of the attic through an existing large gable louver. A humidifier was added to the unit in order to optimize storage conditions, and a remote sensor was placed inside the storage space, while a thermo/humidistat was located in the hallway outside to allow easy monitoring and adjusting of the readings and settings…55 degrees Fahrenheit and 70% relative humidity last time I looked.
Storage cabinet design and selection of materials were finalized. We had vacillated between old growth heart pine and clear, all-heart redwood but chose the redwood in the end. We wanted to allow water vapor transmission all the way between the room itself and the warm-side barrier, so we clad walls and ceilings with unsealed 3/4” beaded tongue and groove redwood rather than glued up materials which might create an unwanted intermediate vapor barrier.
The entire conditioned wine storage space actually consists of the principal room plus a bulk storage area behind. In order to access the bulk storage area we fashioned the center section of the U-shaped cabinetry into an access door. Approximately 800 pounds loaded with wine, this seven foot high by five feet wide section pivots on two Igus slewing rings with the additional support of two heavy-duty rigid casters . . . a minor feat of engineering and completely imperceptible. We made double sure that the new stone floor was dead flat level and that the structural support under the bearing points was completely solid.
Steel library ladder, grape-cluster adorned chandelier, and nifty LED accent lighting completed the effect. A most satisfying project and a testament to the collaboration between client, builder, cabinetmaker, and sundry other tradesmen. A wine cellar de grand luxe and a little gem of a space. Let us help you create your very own special place.

The blueberry wins our hearts in flavor and nutrition. It's also easy to grow, and pick. Sizes from less than a foot to 10 feet with the 'Rabbiteyes' We have an excellent climate for most berries and blueberries fall in this category. grown on bark-enriched soil is an excellent start to a successful patch. Each full-sized plant can produce about 15 to 20 pounds, consistently!

Authentic Bourbon Whiskey is aged to perfection over several years in 53 gallon new white oak barrels. Weighing over 350 pounds each, thousands of these barrels are commonly stored in massive wooden warehouses built in the late 1800’s. Now being torn down and rebuilt, we are fortunate enough to save a piece of U.S. Bourbon history. Straight from the Heart of Bourbon Country, these reclaimed Bourbon warehouses and barns now receive a new life as our Distillery Hardwood Wall Planks.
