Tucked away on a large, private lot, this home's landscape disguises the fact that it is in the middle of an urban neighborhood. The homeowner is an avid gardener, and the landscape is constantly evolving as he puts his touch on the plants and new phases of the master plan are implemented.
The entry is lushly planted, offering a welcoming array of shapes and colors. The trees and shrubs further privatize the space as they mature.
Che Interiors
Che Interiors worked closely with our client to plan, design, and implement a renovation of two children’s rooms, create a mudroom with laundry area in an unused downstairs space, renovate a kitchenette area, and create a home office space in a downstairs living room by adding floor to ceiling room dividers. As the children were growing so were their needs and we took this into account when planning for both kids’ rooms. As one child was graduating to a big kids room the other was moving into their siblings nursery. We wanted to update the nursery so that it became something new and unique to its new inhabitant. For this room we repurposed a lot of the furniture, repainted all the walls, added a striking outer-space whale wallpaper that would grow with the little one and added a few new features; a toddlers busy board with fun twists and knobs to encourage brain function and growth, a few floor mats for rolling around, and a climbing arch that could double as a artist work desk as the little grows. Downstairs we created a whimsical big kids room by repainting all the walls, building a custom bookshelf, sourcing the coolest toddler bed with trundle for sleepovers, featured a whimsical wonderland wallpaper, adding a few animal toy baskets, we sourced large monstera rugs, a toddlers table with chairs, fun colorful felt hooks and a few climbing foam pieces for jumping and rolling on. For the kitchenette, we worked closely with the General Contractor to repaint the cabinets, add handle pulls, and install new mudroom and laundry furniture. We carried the kitchenette green color to the bathroom cabinets and to the floor to ceiling room dividers for the home office space. Lastly we brought in an organization team to help de-clutter and create a fluid everything-has-its-place system that would make our client’s lives easier.

Michael Nash Design, Build & Homes
When the homeowners purchased this traditional colonial in Vienna, Virginia, they were already planning on making some serious changes. The home’s original floor plan was boxy and closed in, making traffic flow from one room to the next virtually non-existent. Additionally, the existing décor left a lot to be desired. Their vision was to open up the layout and create a more contemporary look using lots of light, soft colors and high end materials.
They decided to add a two-story addition to the back of the home’s existing breakfast room and the small upstairs bedroom above it. The old breakfast area was too small for their daily meals and their teenage son needed more space in his bedroom. They also decided to add a sunroom/family room to the left side of their old family room. This new room offers a vaulted ceiling with four skylights and lots of windows with a better view of the side and backyard.
To create a more open floor plan, the team at Michael Nash Design, Build & Homes removed the load bearing wall between the kitchen and family room and installed a large beam to handle the second floor load. Not only did this open up the space, but it allowed for the addition of a breakfast bar.
The right side bearing wall of the old family room was also removed and replaced with structural beams. This action created a continuous flow between the new sunroom and old family room. Separated by a double-sided stone fireplace, this new sunroom is connected to a new outside sun deck built using a maintenance-free decking material. The old family room with new lighting now serves as a casual seating area. It also features an eight-foot long built-in desk.
The newly updated kitchen features granite countertops with matching tile backsplash, professional-quality appliances, a porcelain tile floor and custom cabinets, including a large pantry. The new breakfast room is more spacious and gets daylight from three different angles.
Upstairs, a new 12’ x 20’ bedroom is a great place for this teenage football fan to hang out. It provides significantly more closet space than the old room and lets in more sunlight as well.
The old laundry room was converted to a new mudroom with locker style cabinetry and a place for kids to store their bag packs. New plumbing and electrical were implemented in a new closet in an upper hallway to facilitate the new washer and dryer.
In this remodel, form and function have come together in an open concept design that meets the needs of the entire family.

The Baradari
Baradari :an ingenious Indian air conditioning system incorporating a twelve doored pavilion designed to allow free flow of air.
While the baradari is quite common in the Northern part of India (Patiala even has a palace called the Baradari) our team thought it would be interesting to implement the corridor in the hospital town of Perinthalmanna in Kerala!
The residence of a doctor couple, this project was to be more than just a mere living space. While providing all the comforts of home, the space had to cater to the owner's passion for nature
The team converted this 3485 sqft plot into a graceful villa seamlessly blending tradition with user friendly modern aesthetics.
One enters the house, through a small yet picturesque garden before arriving at green marbled foyer. Leading into the residence is an elegant teak wood door which is capped with an arched window. The design team had a lot of fun playing with levels and so the villa has a sub-basement car park, living, kitchen, dining space and a two bed rooms at ground level, an entertainment room at mezzanine level and two guest bedrooms at the first floor.
It is the first floor that houses the pièce de résistance the ‘Baradari’ which opens onto the terrace. The terrace designed to give the kids a private place to play houses a gazebo and a lap pool, while proving ample space for the owner to indulge in his passion for exotic plants.
The residence, aptly named Sukoon (Persian for tranquillity) incorporates functional amenities which are now standard to projects designed by Cobblestones. Large sunroofs form an essential part of the elaborate rain water harvesting system. The marble flooring and the open jaalis have been judiciously placed to increase the cross ventilation. Wrought iron grill work protect all balconies, adding to the grandeur of the facade also creates a wonderful contrast to the honey coloured walls
The interior design team weren’t one to be left behind, converting structural niches to showcasing carefully chosen artwork. A Jharoka inspired wall piece found space in the dining room, while a Kashmiri tapestry with an intricately carved console spices up the arched corridor leading up to the bedrooms. A rose wood crockery shelf for those delicate piece of china while the TV niche resembles a display in a technology museum!
The coming together of tradition and modernity, the blend of man-made with nature, the marriage of architecture to interior design, one can’t help but reflect that Sukoon is such an apt name for this residence

When our long-time VIP clients let us know they were ready to finish the basement that was a part of our original addition we were jazzed, and for a few reasons.
One, they have complete trust in us and never shy away from any of our crazy ideas, and two they wanted the space to feel like local restaurant Brick & Bourbon with moody vibes, lots of wooden accents, and statement lighting.
They had a couple more requests, which we implemented such as a movie theater room with theater seating, completely tiled guest bathroom that could be "hosed down if necessary," ceiling features, drink rails, unexpected storage door, and wet bar that really is more of a kitchenette.
So, not a small list to tackle.
Alongside Tschida Construction we made all these things happen.

Crystal Kitchen + Bath
Infusing this once, drab 80’s kitchen with light and color was one goal in this extensive remodel. By removing the wall separating the dining room from the kitchen, the space doubled in size and allowed natural light to flood it.
Creating a design that filled the space yet remained very functional to the homeowner was extremely important. By implementing the two working triangles, one homeowner can be using the sink, cooktop and refrigerator while the other uses the secondary island for food prep as it has an additional sink.
A large soffit housing HVAC runs through the middle of the townhome and seemed intrusive to the space at first. After embracing it in the design, it’s as if it were meant to be. Three aluminum framed cabinets hang below, one directly underneath the soffit to create an asymmetrical design.
On a budget but still wanting a beautiful design, Crystal’s semi-custom line of cabinetry came into play. Simply White and Light Grey provide the perfect backdrop for natural maple, brushed gold hardware and accessories that infuse the space with color. Inside the cabinetry, the best storage solutions make for an extremely functional kitchen!
What a dream it is to have a kitchen that boasts quality, functionality and makes a person feel inspired within it.

CONCEPTUALIZATION
We consider factors such as the environment, orography, climate, orientation, electromagnetic contamination and radiation lines to start.
Through a holistic design, environmental deterioration can be counteracted by implementing systems based on ethical development principles and through the responsible promotion and exploitation of resources and the optimization of the materials used.
SELF SUFFICIENCY
We study the concept, shape and design of spaces as self-sufficient units, applying concepts of energy efficiency and sustainability.

LIFE IN FULLNESS
The space that a robot occupies is not lived by you. Don’t give your space or your freedom to the maintenance of artifacts.
The building receives sunlight from the South and the West.
Thus, the main openings are oriented to the South on the first floor and to the West sun on the ground and first floors.
All the gaps in the façade have been collected in 3 large windows of 2×2 m from the ground.
In this way,
the wall gives its width
to the horizontal surface of the floor and the window openings are reduced to 3 to respect the old wall as much as possible. Floor 0 receives energy from the sun from its West window and from the light set of the staircase, which occupies the entire vertical projection P0-P1.
