Inspiration for a contemporary living room remodel in Boston with beige walls and a ribbon fireplace
dSPACE Studio Ltd, AIA
Dark, moody, soothing, rich are words that describe this Game Room. A cluster of Tom Dixon pendant light fixtures are used over the black felt pool table. The walls are dark walnut wood paneling and the bar is black honed marble. The floor is a dark stained oak chevron. The vibe is sophisticated, masculine saloon / lounge. Custom built in details abound, such as the electric guitar cabinet, pool cue storage cabinet, dart board, two flush mounted plasma tv's, and built-in seating with drink ledges. Edison filament sconces add to the vintage feel of the rooms and the LED cove ceiling light detail and LED under step lighting create subtle lighting effects. This room elevates mancave to a new level.

Made of 300, 10-foot steel blades set upright 8 inches apart, the award winning Cor-Ten Cattails Sculptural fence was designed for a home in Berwyn, Pennsylvania as a yard sculpture that also keeps deer out.
Made of COR-TEN, a steel alloy that eliminates the need for painting and maintains a rich, dark rust color without corroding, the fence stanchions were cut with a plasma cutter from sheets of the alloy.
Each blade stands 8 feet above grade, set in concrete 3 feet below, weighs 80-90 pounds and is 5/8 inch thick. The profile of the blades is an irregular trapezoid with no horizontal connections or supports. Only the gate has two horizontal bars, and each leaf weighs 1200 pounds.

Set in Montana's tranquil Shields River Valley, the Shilo Ranch Compound is a collection of structures that were specifically built on a relatively smaller scale, to maximize efficiency. The main house has two bedrooms, a living area, dining and kitchen, bath and adjacent greenhouse, while two guest homes within the compound can sleep a total of 12 friends and family. There's also a common gathering hall, for dinners, games, and time together. The overall feel here is of sophisticated simplicity, with plaster walls, concrete and wood floors, and weathered boards for exteriors. The placement of each building was considered closely when envisioning how people would move through the property, based on anticipated needs and interests. Sustainability and consumption was also taken into consideration, as evidenced by the photovoltaic panels on roof of the garage, and the capability to shut down any of the compound's buildings when not in use.

Green Mountain Builders
Green Mountain Builders has recently completed a luxury whole home remodel in Bonita Bay, a magnificent award-winning country club community in Bonita Springs, Florida. The remodel focused on opening up the interior space by removing walls that closed off rooms, restricting an open-concept layout. With the dining room wall removed, the home now is bathed in additional sunlight. Opening up the closed area, also makes the home seem much larger. New flooring and paint throughout and a beautiful Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) flooring enhance the beauty of this lovely golf course home. LVP is a wonderful wood-look flooring option that offers warmth and texture. The kitchen was completely renovated as were the bedrooms, including the master, and all bathrooms. Green Mountain creatively used shiplap boards in the family room effecting a stunning wall display. In addition, the lovely courtyard remodel has been updated to provide an outdoor space perfect for entertaining and family enjoyment.

Working with this chef on a kitchen redesign proved to be a study in detail, said Janice. “She was very specific on what she needed and we had to make some significant adjustments in wall structures, among other things, to provide what she was looking for.”
“However, she was very enjoyable to work with because, while there were a lot of requirements about what she had to have, she was also open to ideas and to blending her needs with different ways to do things.”
One of the significant changes included:
Redoing a wall that separated the kitchen from the living area having only one opening in the middle to a wall with two openings on either side of a new bar area where people can gather and flow more easily into the living area. The bar includes a sink, dishwasher, wine cooler, TV, and cabinetry for glassware.
