The goal was to upgrade the building to accommodate a modern-day lifestyle while protecting and restoring the home’s architectural integrity.

The Crema Marfil flooring runs throughout the first floor but is done in intricate pattern changes that are very subtle yet show the attention that was paid to details. Rich medium wood tones are found in the furniture as well as inlaid into the ceiling details to create a rich contrast to the backgrounds.

Standing on the upper balcony, looking over the cable railing, one can either look out at the beautiful lake, or down at the equally grand terrace below. An intricate blend of herringbone and modular patterns are mixed throughout the patio with border accents in Techo Blocs Borealis and striking Oakville limestone slab steps. The balcony level features a dining and lounge area for enjoying the view. Below is a covered patio with a wrap around black leathered granite bar and outdoor kitchen. The tongue and groove ceiling features all weather speakers, an auto mounted outdoor flatscreen TV that folds away as needed, recessed heaters, and outdoor ceiling fans to keep guests comfortable in all weather. A hot tub and gas fire pit lay just outside the covered awning, with beautiful views of the lake. The terrace continues with a third level just above the beach, with access to the dock and ample room for sunbathing. Finally a flight of ledgerock steps with cultured limestone caps lead you to the sandy beach. The landscaping of ornamental grasses blend perfectly with the natural surroundings, creating a welcoming yet sophisticated space.

Steering to outline this architectural masterpiece, the team at Design Square harmonised architecture with its surroundings and created a symbiotic relationship with the local context. The architectural language is a fusion of conventional themes characterised by vibrant colours in traditional dresses. The entrance facade of the salon is defined by intricate jaali patterns with pointed arches that effortlessly blend with the streetscape, exuding an aura of sophistication and elegance. The guests are welcomed to a bright and vibrant reception area with ceilings integrating warm indirect lights fused with subtle white furnishings and a sleek marble countertop. The waiting area is enlightened with blue sofas and grey cushioned panellings that complement the space, exuding an aura of grandeur. As the guests venture inside, they are greeted with detailed styling stations that speak the tone of royalty. The intricate patterns on the mirror frame add to the fluted wall panels, complementing the plush upholsteries without compromising luxury.

Venture into the living room and the concealment theme continues… our bespoke, panelled walls frame the room providing a tranquil backdrop behind which lies practical storage. The flooring was a carefully considered element of the scheme. Our clients wanted parquet but anything too intricate or busy may not have worked within the tranquil environment they were seeking to create. So, we worked up a larger scale format for them to bring a more generous, expansive quality to the space. But then there were the constraints of working with a period property that features curves aplenty. Each property on The Circus is slightly curved on the front elevation and this property also had a curved rear elevation. We designed and custom-manufactured a large-format 60-degree chevron, to complement the radii and avoid too many individual blocks, keeping the overall design and aesthetic more simplistic. We finished this FSC light character grade oak in a matt, highly sustainable, VOC free penetrating oil.
