Inspiration for a contemporary kitchen remodel in New York with shaker cabinets, gray cabinets, quartz countertops, white backsplash and subway tile backsplash

DESIGN NEW ENGLAND magazine described Boston designer Lisa K. Tharp's Coastal Loft interiors - where Beach meets SoHo - as living like "an art gallery by the sea". First, Tharp layered in architectural details, including custom cabinetry and a window seat to frame the view. Linen draperies reinforce 10' ceilings, while silk roman shades soften the triple window. Slipcovered sofa and rattan chairs anchor the seating area. Reclaimed teak low table acts as foundation for old french chimney piece that Lisa discovered in an antique shop. Driftwood quatrefoil side tables host glazed and linen lamps. Lisa repurposed a vintage glass pie display as unique side table and gave Teri Malo's "Poem for a Nauset Afternoon" oil painting pride of place over the sofa. Photo by Eric Roth.

Even though the price seems high, spread out over the life of the tree, this is a bargain. Initial set-up is easy but lengthy due to fluffing out all the branches.I'm sure next year it won't take nearly as long. The tree has a beautiful blue-green tint and visitors seem to think it is real. There is also plenty of room between branches where you can tuck ornaments into the tree. Soft white LED lights are bright but not blinding. We feel we made a perfect choice and will enjoy it for many years."   Note the tree's natural appearance, complementing the leather chairs, wooden beams, shelves and wood floors. Combined with deep red poinsettias on the stone fireplace mantel to add the finishing touch in this family room / great room.
