When the homeowner came back from his Hunt in Africa he had plenty to furnish his rooms with! Art that was handcrafted from animal skins, gem stock elk sconces with ostrich eggs create an interesting masculine bathroom.

A masculine space for entertaining with familiar features of a “man cave” is rendered in highly sophisticated materials and details. Bleached walnut and weathered wood furniture add warmth, while blackened steel construction and spill-proof Marmoleum flooring speak to the darkness of the TV’s on the media wall. Cork flooring delineates a bar area from the rest of the room and is a reference to the beverage of choice. A new men’s room is conveniently located nearby.

Gardner/Fox created this clients' ultimate man cave! What began as an unfinished basement is now 2,250 sq. ft. of rustic modern inspired joy! The different amenities in this space include a wet bar, poker, billiards, foosball, entertainment area, 3/4 bath, sauna, home gym, wine wall, and last but certainly not least, a golf simulator. To create a harmonious rustic modern look the design includes reclaimed barnwood, matte black accents, and modern light fixtures throughout the space.

Inside the man cave is a hidden gem of colorful finishes and patterns. Marimekko Pieni Tiara Blue wallpaper blends seamlessly with the Amazonite quartzite drop edge countertop from the Stone Collection. The floating peppercorn stained maple Ultra Craft cabinets with exposed Jalco chrome plumbing allows a more spacious feeling than a typical vanity. Top Knobs Kingsbridge pulls in an Ash Gray finish bring a masculine yet tailored style to this bath. The oak hardwood floors continue from the den to create warmth and continuity. In the shower we used Crossville Tender Gray 4”x10” in a brcklay pattern on the walls, Uptown Glass Frost Moka 1” hex mosaic tile on the floor and shampoo niche, and for the vanity sink, we installed a low vessel Kohler Inia Wading Pool in the Ice finish, and paired it with the Brizo Rook single handle faucet in chrome. The shower fixtures are also from the Brizo Rook collection.

From the mis-matched cabinetry, to the floral wallpaper border, to the hot air balloon accent tiles, the former state of this master bathroom held no relationship to its laid-back bachelor owner. Inspired by his travels, his stays at luxury hotel suites and longing for zen appeal, the homeowner called in designer Rachel Peterson of Simply Baths, Inc. to help him overhaul the room. Removing walls to open up the space and adding a calming neutral grey palette left the space uninterrupted, modern and fresh. To make better use of this 9x9 bathroom, the walk-in shower and Japanese soaking tub share the same space & create the perfect opportunity for a textured, tiled accent wall. Meanwhile, the custom concrete sink offers just the right amount of industrial edge. The end result is a better compliment to the homeowner and his lifestyle & gives the term "man cave" a whole new meaning.
