Kitchen - traditional kitchen idea in New York with stainless steel appliances, recessed-panel cabinets, white cabinets, marble countertops, white backsplash and subway tile backsplash

In collaboration with Darcy Tsung Design, we took a small, cramped kitchen and created an open layout for entertaining. The owner is an accomplished chef who wanted a purpose-built kitchen to house all of her specialty items, including pullouts for a Kitchen Aid mixer, a coffee station, and cabinet inserts for knives, spices, and cutting boards. Our traditional, yet still up to date, design was influenced by the owner's antique heirloom dining table and chairs. We seamlessly incorporated that much beloved set of furniture, and gave a prominent place for the owner's colorful artwork.

Hatch and ladder to sleeping loft.
This is a 10x20 studio with full kitchen and full bath. A small sleeping loft with a Murphy bed is accessed by a ladder that is integrated into the bookcase. This is a small studio that we designed for a couple from Austin who moved to Boise. This will be a writing studio for one of the owners and occasional guest house. It's fun to see the work that is being created in the space and hear about the writing workshops that are hosted there. The clients asked us to be inspired by Japanese tea houses but with a modern influence. We are seeing projects trend smaller, but this one went all the way to micro-house, tiny house. We would love to hear from you to discuss new projects, no matter the size, as you can see.

These days, we design the Butler’s Pantry and Walk In Pantry to do the “heavy lifting” ?? for the kitchen. With undercounter refrigerators, appliance stations, built-in microwaves, these back-kitchen zones are the workhorses ? of the kitchen. And we believe they should be just as gorgeous!

Our inspiration for this home was an updated and refined approach to Frank Lloyd Wright’s “Prairie-style”; one that responds well to the harsh Central Texas heat. By DESIGN we achieved soft balanced and glare-free daylighting, comfortable temperatures via passive solar control measures, energy efficiency without reliance on maintenance-intensive Green “gizmos” and lower exterior maintenance.
The client’s desire for a healthy, comfortable and fun home to raise a young family and to accommodate extended visitor stays, while being environmentally responsible through “high performance” building attributes, was met. Harmonious response to the site’s micro-climate, excellent Indoor Air Quality, enhanced natural ventilation strategies, and an elegant bug-free semi-outdoor “living room” that connects one to the outdoors are a few examples of the architect’s approach to Green by Design that results in a home that exceeds the expectations of its owners.

This turn-of-the-century original Sellwood Library was transformed into an amazing Portland home for it's New York transplants. Custom woodworking and cabinetry transformed this room into a warm and functional workspace. Leaded glass windows and dark stained wood floors add to the eclectic mix of original craftsmanship and modern influences.

“I don’t want my kitchen to look like anyone else’s.” This was the client’s request to the designer. Influenced by the style of Bali and the client’s own design sense, the new style was dubbed “Julinese” (her name is Julie).
In keeping with the Balinese style, bold design elements were chosen – 6” pyramidal columns stained with a deep java finish, support the 3” thick Purple Dunas granite countertops and the custom glass eating bar. The electrical outlets are housed in these columns.
Further supporting the Balinese theme, the ceiling over the island was raised in a pyramid style – evoking an outdoor feel. Kable lighting illuminates the kitchen.
Topping the cabinets along the walls and the window sill are dark grey 3” thick concrete counters. When the folding windows are open, the sill becomes a 15” deep serving bar for outdoor entertaining.
For ergonomics – the dishwasher and microwave were raised to 42” and 54” comparatively.
Additional Design elements:
Cork floors in Autumn and Black Pepper finish
Custom design cabinet doors support the strong linear lines.
Stainless Steel Farm Sink
Eclipse Architectural Folding window and door

The mission-style-influenced double vanity is the focal point of this spa-inspired master bathroom. At nearly a full 8ft long, this vanity offers ample counter space and plenty of storage. The black cherry top and slatted bottom shelves add an important warmth and natural element to the cooler, white and grey tones of the tile flooring and the custom micro-cement walls. Bronze hardware matches the metals of the lighting fixtures, plumbing fixtures, and shower accents around the room.
The drawers are positioned in the center, offering easy access from both sinks. There’s lots of storage below each sink and we opted for a doorless approach with slatted bottom shelving as the open structure makes the entire room feel lighter, inviting, and airy.
This vanity combines design elements from modern farmhouse, mission, and coastal casual styles all working together to elevate this spa-inspired bathroom in a way that only custom-made furniture can.
