This New Construction Laundry Room was designed by Myste from our Windham showroom. This laundry room features cabico cabinetry with thermofoil recessed panel door style and white paint finish. It also features laminate countertops with Travertine (brown) color countertop and square edge. Other features include brushed nickel cabinet hardware, crown molding and washer & dryer side cabinet panels.

This homeowner came to us with her basic design ready for us to execute for her kitchen, but also asked us to design and update her entry, sunroom and fireplace. Her kitchen was 80’s standard builder grade cabinetry and laminate countertops and she had a knee wall separating her kitchen from the family room. We removed that wall and installed a custom cabinetry buffet to complement the cabinetry of the kitchen, allowing for access from all sides. We removed a desk area in the kitchen and converted it to a closed organization station complete with a charging station for phones and computers. Calcutta Quartzite countertops were used throughout and continued seamlessly up the walls as a backsplash to create a wow factor. We converted a closet into a pantry cabinet, and new stainless appliances, including a microwave drawer completed this renovation.
Additionally, we updated her sunroom by removing the “popcorn” textured ceiling and gave it a fresh updated coat of paint. We installed 12x24 tile floor giving the room a simple classic transformation. Finally, we renewed the fireplace area, by building a custom mantle and adding wood paneling and trim to soften the marble fireplace face and a simple coat of paint in the entry and a new chandelier brought a lighter and fresher impact upon entering the home.

Our homeowner had dreamt about one day redoing her beyond outdated kitchen since they day her husband carried her over the threshold. Vinyl flooring used for a backsplash, dingy carpeting, laminate with no sheen left to speak of and mismatched cabinetry…. it was time to make it happen. A year’s worth of planning later, her time capsule became one dreamy kitchen.
Functionality reigns supreme in this small, but efficient kitchen where every cabinet has a story to tell and a place to store it. Countertop space to the right of the stove was an added necessity for function and safety. The raised snack bar is perfect for day to day meals and the lowered countertop was a must for this petite baker. A new lighting plan includes recessed lights, under-cabinet and accent lights, while new lighting fixtures reflect the client’s sense of style. Dingy brick patterned carpet was removed making way for new hardwood floors toothed in from the dining room.
An airy palette gained some weight with the use of larger details; the oversized hood, beefy turned posts, prominent apron front sink and a grouping of tall cabinets on the refrigerator wall. Glass cabinet fronts, shiny beveled subway tile, and granite countertops allow light to dance around the space.

A picture is worth a thousand words, but it's difficult to describe this exquisite basement in a photograph. Designed for a couple who are a party waiting to happen, this walkout basement was destined to be spectacular. Once a cold, blank slate of concrete, the basement is now an extraordinary multi-functional living space. The luxurious new design includes a stunning full bar with all the amenities. The cabinetry was done in Brookhaven Bridgeport Oak in a Bistro finish and granite countertops. In the lounge area an older fireplace was removed and replaced with a Lennox direct-vent fireplace. Gorgeous stacked quartz stone in Glacier white surrounds the unit and Corian was used for the hearth. A home theater room is tucked away yet open to the lounge area. Custom woodwork also helps to set this basement apart. Unique art deco columns were designed by the M.J. Whelan design team, along with several art nooks peppered throughout the space. Beautiful trim molding wrap the entire space. Tray ceilings help to define different areas of the space. Lighting is layered throughout, including indirect cove lighting wrapping every tray. A spa room and full bathroom were also a part of the new design.

Before, a crammed kitchen with hardly any counter space. After, an elongated cabinet run with plenty of countertop space for baking preparations. The white cabinets and light colored granite brighten up the space as well as the new faux wood plank ceiling. Contrasting are the new wooden laminate floors to compliment the brown tones in the mosaic backsplash.

Create a beautiful transitional kitchen with warm cherry raised panel cabinet with light and airy quartz countertops. The backsplash will marry the cabinets and countertops in a blend of tones in natural stone. The dramatic effect achieved by staggered cabinet heights, glass uppers and two cabinet colors further customizes the new space. While coordinated banisters further transform the home. Instillation of a lifetime Pergo Max floor to combine the kitchen, eating area and stairs will create a seamless flow to the new space.

This 1933 Wauwatosa basement was dark, dingy and lacked functionality. The basement was unfinished with concrete walls and floors. A small office was enclosed but the rest of the space was open and cluttered.
The homeowners wanted a warm, organized space for their family. A recent job change meant they needed a dedicated home office. They also wanted a place where their kids could hang out with friends.
Their wish list for this basement remodel included: a home office where the couple could both work, a full bathroom, a cozy living room and a dedicated storage room.
This basement renovation resulted in a warm and bright space that is used by the whole family.
Highlights of this basement:
- Home Office: A new office gives the couple a dedicated space for work. There’s plenty of desk space, storage cabinets, under-shelf lighting and storage for their home library.
- Living Room: An old office area was expanded into a cozy living room. It’s the perfect place for their kids to hang out when they host friends and family.
- Laundry Room: The new laundry room is a total upgrade. It now includes fun laminate flooring, storage cabinets and counter space for folding laundry.
- Full Bathroom: A new bathroom gives the family an additional shower in the home. Highlights of the bathroom include a navy vanity, quartz counters, brass finishes, a Dreamline shower door and Kohler Choreograph wall panels.
- Staircase: We spruced up the staircase leading down to the lower level with patterned vinyl flooring and a matching trim color.
- Storage: We gave them a separate storage space, with custom shelving for organizing their camping gear, sports equipment and holiday decorations.
CUSTOMER REVIEW
“We had been talking about remodeling our basement for a long time, but decided to make it happen when my husband was offered a job working remotely. It felt like the right time for us to have a real home office where we could separate our work lives from our home lives.
We wanted the area to feel open, light-filled, and modern – not an easy task for a previously dark and cold basement! One of our favorite parts was when our designer took us on a 3D computer design tour of our basement. I remember thinking, ‘Oh my gosh, this could be our basement!?!’ It was so fun to see how our designer was able to take our wish list and ideas from my Pinterest board, and turn it into a practical design.
We were sold after seeing the design, and were pleasantly surprised to see that Kowalske was less costly than another estimate.” – Stephanie, homeowner
