This project involved 2 bathrooms, one in front of the other. Both needed facelifts and more space. We ended up moving the wall to the right out to give the space (see the before photos!) This is the master bathroom, which suffered before from being dark, outdated, and non-functional. My client and I call this "organic glam". we wanted a spa-like bath but with some color. I decided on an earthy, organic palette of taupes, grays, and green. We ditched the tub for a walk-in shower. Satin brass fixtures, a teak vanity, acrylic accessories add to the luxe feel.

The soaring cathedral ceilings and warm exposed beams were the only features to speak of in this non-descript open landing. Off the hallway near the kids’ rooms, its small size and open layout made it something in between a hallway and a room. While most might consider a TV or office nook for this space, its adjacency to the children’s quarters inspired the designer toward something more imaginative. Inspired by the bright open space, this design achieves a sort of Balinese treehouse aesthetic – and all of it is designed specifically for fun.
Playful hanging beds swing freely on sisal rope, creating a beckoning space that draws in children and adults alike. The mattresses were filled especially with non-toxic, non-petroleum natural fiber fill to make them healthy to sleep and lounge on – and encased in removable, washable organic cotton slipcovers. As the children are young, the floor space (finished in non-toxic lacquer) is kept clear and available for sprawling play. Large storage benches topped with walnut seats keep toys and books well organized, and ready for action at any time.

Developed to allow people to grow healthy organic produce at home and provide a means to partially reduce our carbon foot print. Each planter allows plants to easily follow the sun and allow flat hardscapes to be used for multiple purposes. Taller planters are offered for those with chronic back problems or other physical limitations and handicaps (up to 42” tall).
The planters are sturdy and built to last. Each planter is designed to last over twenty years plus. Construction is super sturdy. Made of hand selected Western timber (50% western red cedar / 50% plant oil and mineral and plant oil cured Douglas Fir. All wood FSC or SFI certified. Some wood is from recycled sources.). Planters are able to withstand frequent movement while supporting the weight of deep rich loamy soil. The boxes have an absence of shoddy staples, nails, pegs and rods. Most hardware is marine quality epoxy coated caseharden steel (Last longer- stronger than stainless steel). Lined with welded three-ply non-PVC pond liner. Planter bottoms are plumbed with drains that allow water to be diverted or conserved (re-used).
Most materials, more than 90% of our materials are insourced from places like: Alabama, California, Illinois, Massachusetts, Ohio, Pennsylvania and South Dakota. Planters are designed, fully assembled and tested in Ventura, California. Planters can be shipped almost anywhere fully or near fully assembled (wheel chassis might have to be removed for some shipping carriers).

This 7,000 square foot space located is a modern weekend getaway for a modern family of four. The owners were looking for a designer who could fuse their love of art and elegant furnishings with the practicality that would fit their lifestyle. They owned the land and wanted to build their new home from the ground up. Betty Wasserman Art & Interiors, Ltd. was a natural fit to make their vision a reality.
Upon entering the house, you are immediately drawn to the clean, contemporary space that greets your eye. A curtain wall of glass with sliding doors, along the back of the house, allows everyone to enjoy the harbor views and a calming connection to the outdoors from any vantage point, simultaneously allowing watchful parents to keep an eye on the children in the pool while relaxing indoors. Here, as in all her projects, Betty focused on the interaction between pattern and texture, industrial and organic.
Project completed by New York interior design firm Betty Wasserman Art & Interiors, which serves New York City, as well as across the tri-state area and in The Hamptons.
