Rustic kitchen cabinets with green Viking appliances. Cabinets were built by Fedewa Custom Works. Warm, sunset colors make this kitchen very inviting. Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The cabinets are knotty alder wood, with a stain and glaze we developed here in our shop.

via our website ` "This Cottage is one of my favorites. It is in response to the many who have asked for a multi purpose building that will keep both happy. It took a year and twelve revisions before this design was finalized. It makes very good use of the space while providing an aesthetically pleasing appearance. The 5’ double doors on the gable end are adequate for a lawn tractor, ATV, and/or firewood storage. With the addition of a workbench and cabinet space, the interior 8×10 can easily be converted into a potting area or workshop."

Warm colors and materials maintain comfort in the basement, and reflect the charm of the rest of the home. Leather furniture from Arhaus keeps the feeling refined, yet casual, perfect for everyday entertaining or relaxing.
Rather than install typical doors, the Schneiders hung rolling panels made out of reclaimed barn wood. When not in use, the big-screen TV is obscured by the double doors, allowing attention to be given to the displays of family memorabilia.

We created a warm contemporary look with the combination of clean lines, different textures and the color palate. The high polished marble floors provide an elegant back drop with rich dark and exotic woods to ground the space. Special attention was given to the architectural details such as the stacked stone wall, the contoured walls, the ceiling details, trim-less lighting, color changing lighting and the lighting control system.

Although Gayle's favorite summertime spot is in the back sun porch, it is the living room that gets her vote throughout the cold months, thanks to the wood-burning fireplace. "Need I say more?!", she jokes.
The feeling of the space is akin to an elegant lodge, with a cut stone hearth and plenty of wood. Gary splits logs to stack alongside the fireplace, which brings both form and function to the arrangement.

This exterior was refreshed with new siding, new windows, and a new roof. For visual interest, the siding is divided by a white band, with lap siding below and staggered cedar shakes above. A new gable in the front of the home breaks the monotony of the shed roofs. Photo by Andrea Rugg.

We use rock and stone where it makes hydrologic and ecological sense in our waters. We do not use stone excessively since it is expensive and is very often over-done which results in unnatural appearing ponds.
30 years of experience as Biologists has shown us extensive rock and stone features in the wild. We paid attention and bring that to our projects to incorporate the exact correct materials in elements such as waterfalls, pools, riffles and shorelines. Each element calls for a particular geometry of materials. Using the same rock in a waterfall as in a riffle or stream makes for a contrived artificial appearance. You may not be able to verbalize the error, but when you see the finished habitat, you will feel the difference. Our responsibility is to know the difference and employ it.
Nature may appear chaotic to a casual observer, but there is a very complex order for all natural habitats.
