This is a wall in my living room that is going to be painted. Because of the amount of trim work on the wall i'm not sure if all the trim should be painted or paint inside the boxes differnt colors. Does anyone have any opinions on this project for me?

In the summer of 2012 we embarked on a remodel of our 1912 Craftsman. We wanted to redo the kitchen and the upper floor which contained the master bedroom, bathroom, guest room and office. We interviewed approximately 5 other architects prior to finding Mark. We knew right away he was the right person for the job. He was patient, thorough and we could tell he truly loved our home and wanted to work with us to make it even better. His vast experience showed through during the interview process which validated his portfolio.
Mark truly became a trusted advisor who would guide us through this remodel process from beginning to end. His planning was precise and he came by many times to re-measure to get every detail accounted for. He was patient and helpful as we made decisions and then changed our minds! He was with us every week of the 10 weeks of the remodel. He attended each weekly meeting with the General Contractor and was at the house numerous other times guiding and really looking out for our best interests. I came to trust him enough to ask his opinion on almost everything from layout to colors and decorating tips! He consistently threw out ideas....many of which we took.
Additionally Mark was a tremendous help in referring us to contractors, designers, and retailers to help us along the way. I am ecstatic over the results of the remodel. The kitchen and bath are truly beautiful and full of modern conveniences while maintaining the integrity of the 1912 structure. We were right about our decision to hire Mark and we wholehearted recommend him as an outstanding architect, and more!!

A young family of four recently purchased a home with an unfinished basement. Each member of the family had their own opinion of how to use the space: dad wanted a music room, mom loves to dance and have parties, and the children wanted a media/game room where they could hang out with their friends. Fortunately, the basement was big enough to meet all their needs.
The renovation includes a secluded sound proof music room that doubles as an office, a home gym with full-length mirrors and a multi-purpose area for dancing and entertaining.
A full bar area with sink, dishwasher, microwave, wine cooler and under-the-counter refrigerator features granite countertops and custom cabinetry. Complete with high-back bar stools, it is a great gathering space during the parties the family loves to host.
The focal point of the basement is a gas fireplace with ledger stone surround. Mood lighting, sconces, pendants, recessed lights and a disco ball provide plenty of lighting options.
Last, but not least, is a high-tech media room with 110” large screen television. Let the games begin!

dimension and color bring this tile backsplash to life - as the light into the home changes, so does the color and texture of the tile. At moments it appears more or less dimensional. In the morning more of the neutral and ecru colors are prevalent, at noon the copper colors force their way out, while at sunset the gray and blue-gray tones pop.
The presentation of this tile option was one of many exciting moments in this project. I first presented this to the builder, as I was aware that installation of 3-D 3/4" thick tile would be a challenge. But, Brandon with Sunbelt Remodeling was delightful to work with and responded quite directly: "all the really cool stuff is hard to install. But I love it, so I will figure it out!"
It was love at first sight for one homeowner, while trusting reservation better describes the opinion of the other. Both now agree that sometimes tile is art!

With Landmark Remodeling by our side we tackled the fourth project we have been on with these long-time clients. They have wanted to refresh the kitchen from day one of looking at it and were very excited that they were finally doing it four years later.
We went back and forth on whether we reface the current cabinetry or do the whole gut and remodel route. This is a conversation we have all the time with clients and we gave our opinion to save the money and only refresh.
We landed on refacing and then applying some of those saving into refacing the fireplace in the adjacent family room to tie the two spaces together.
Since we were replacing the counters we took the opportunity to extend the island to accomodate more counter space and additional stool seating.

Colored concrete rock waterfall with no paint. No worries for faded paint years from now. I have never heard of this and nor am I saying that I invented it, but a must in my opinion. The way the colored concrete mottles with a dark release is very natural.
Turnstyle Design
When you love something and you realize after years, you’ve inadvertently put that away, a good designer will help you bring that back out. That was Turnstyle’s responsibility here with this recent client project: bring back the joy of spending time in a home library. This space is precious to me, because I’ve known it for all the many years I’ve been working on this home. It sits proudly in the center of the house, greeting people upon entry, and, in my opinion, was a jewel box ready to receive its shine. We blew through a wall to allow it a more spacious entrance, helping anyone who visits to immediately see the stunning on-the-lake view. I applied custom wall to wall antique glass to each wall, floor to ceiling, to enhance the view, make the walls feel like they fall away, and also reflect all the now beautiful art and furniture pieces as part of its new design. Influences from things gathered, stunning reworked furniture from the 1970s and all around functional hero items, allow for better working. The main push residing in really enabling quality time there. This space is open is now refreshing and full of beautiful objects and memorabilia. An inspiring place to contemplate, one is surrounded, and influenced, by a strong, fully fleshed out space through my extensive love of pattern, color and unusual combinations.
