Inspiration for a mid-sized rustic enclosed dark wood floor family room remodel in New York with beige walls and a wall-mounted tv

Creating access to a new outdoor balcony, architect Mary Cerrone replaced the window with a full-pane glass door. The challenge of a narrow thoroughfare was overcome by implementing a sliding screen, which when opened slides into a pocket behind the refrigerator.
By placing a focal point of bright color in the doorway, the room gains a feeling of greater depth, while the dying process of the wood mirrors that of the cabinetry.

We demolished an existing house that was built in the mid-1900s and built this house in its place. Everything about this new house is top-notch - from the materials used to the craftsmanship. The existing house was about 1600 sf. This new house is over 5000 sf. We made great use of space throughout, including the livable attic with a guest bedroom and bath.

This Hawaiian home takes nature to the interior by highlighting custom items like concrete bathtubs and sinks. The large, pocket doors create the walls to this home--walls that can be added and removed as desired. This Kukio home rests on the sunny side of the Big Island and serves as a perfect example of our style, blending the outdoors with the inside of a home.

The “Kettner” is a sprawling family home with character to spare. Craftsman detailing and charming asymmetry on the exterior are paired with a luxurious hominess inside. The formal entryway and living room lead into a spacious kitchen and circular dining area. The screened porch offers additional dining and living space. A beautiful master suite is situated at the other end of the main level. Three bedroom suites and a large playroom are located on the top floor, while the lower level includes billiards, hearths, a refreshment bar, exercise space, a sauna, and a guest bedroom.

Home office - contemporary medium tone wood floor home office idea in San Francisco with beige walls

Two years after we completed our main floor remodel and addition project for a family from Washington D.C. they had grown dissatisfied with the rest of their house. In remodeling the upper floor, our greatest challenge was creating a clean modern interior feeling while dealing with seemingly random roof and ceiling slopes and traditional bay window forms. We managed to disguise these features and reworked the plan to create great bathrooms and bedrooms as well. The master suite includes a window seat and fireplace combination which can be enjoyed from multiple angles and a spacious bathroom. The children’s wing includes a clever bathroom designed to be shared by a teenage girl and boy. The two sink vanity is located in a niche off the hallway with separate rooms behind frosted glass pocket doors for the toilet and bath.

The lower level of this modern farmhouse features a large game room that connects out to the screen porch, pool terrace and fire pit beyond. One end of the space is a large lounge area for watching TV and the other end has a built-in wet bar and accordion windows that open up to the screen porch. The TV is concealed by barn doors with salvaged barn wood on a shiplap wall.
