The Victorian Flatpack Fire Feature by artist John T. Unger is the first in a new line of architecturally inspired designs. The interior of the Fire Feature glows a warm orange while the exterior is backlit in silhouette. The sunburst of rays casts lively and beautiful shadows projected by dancing flames. This play of light and shadow, positive and negative space and projected imagery is reminiscient of another Victorian classic, the magic lantern. Even when not in use, the Fire Feature functions as gorgeous outdoor sculpture, harnessing the sun's passing to craft intricate shadows than slowly shift like the shadow of a sundial.
Like my Sculptural Firebowls, The Flat Pack Architectural Fire Feature is first and foremost a beautiful sculpture designed to interact with light and shadow. But it is also a new direction— unlike the standard rust patina of my recycled work, Flatpack Fire Features are laser cut from heavy-duty stainless steel that retains its finish and will never stain decks, patios or stonework. The shine of the surface allows more reflection of the flames and makes the fire feel even more present. Flat Pack Architectural Fire Features will last many generations as the thick stainless steel is resistant to corrosion, making them the perfect fire feature for ocean air and coastal outdoor living.
The Flatpack Fire Feature’s patent-pending design assembles easily with no tools or hardware and can be up and running in minutes with its plug and play gas system. Installation, dismantling, moving or storage are equally simple and yet the clever interlocking design makes the Fire Feature exceptionally stable, easily passing the most rigorous tests. Once assembled, there is no seam or indication that the Fire Feature is not a solid piece. The design has been thoroughly tested to insure that it can be safely used on wood or Trex decks without concern for combustion. The top of the Fire Feature has a beveled edge and slightly rounded corners.

Paul Despenas: The home was built in the 1800’s and had already been resided with steel siding back in the early 1980’s. The new steel siding looked great for the first ten years but every year after it kept loosing color. It was noisy when it rained or hailed and it didn’t seem to really help much with the heating and cooling of the home.
Over 30 years later the siding industry has really made some great leaps and bounds making Vinyl Siding the number 1 choice for new construction and remodeling for exterior cladding.
Vinyl siding today offers lifetime color fade protection, with manufacturers and third party testing to back all of the claims and warranty facts. VSI (Vinyl Siding Institute of America) has not only held the manufacturers to the fire for the products they manufacturer, but hold the installation companies to the fire as well for proper installation of vinyl siding. The VSI has actually made specific instructions on how to properly install vinyl siding. It has a national certification courses for installers, production managers and owners. Midwest Construction is a Certified Vinyl Siding Installer and has one owner who has achieved Gold Status, our production managers and installers are also certified.
Your project will be done in a timely professional manner (weather permitting) by our well-trained, certified crews. Your job site will be cleaned up daily and all tools will be secured. All of our crews are insured for your peace of mind and comfort.

Roof inspections and certifications are an important service provided by Raven Roofing and Restoration. Property sellers, buyers, Realtors, property managers and building owners trust our qualified and experienced roof inspectors to thoroughly inspect and give an unbiased report on the condition and approximate lifespan that is left in the roof, to ensure all parties are aware of the condition of the roof.
While your Jacksonville roof may look fine from the ground, a professional roof inspection might reveal otherwise. It’s extremely common to find roofs that have been improperly installed. From poorly attached shingles to deteriorated flashing and improperly sealed skylights, chimneys, and roof architecture, we can help you spot and fix any problem areas.
Professional Roof Inspections
A thorough roof inspection or certification addresses all critical areas of the roof, notes the lifespan that is left and gives recommendations for repairs, moss treatment and/or roof cleaning. Estimates can be given if repairs or replacement are necessary in order for the roof to achieve the minimum 3 to 5 year life expectancy which most lending and insurance institutions require for homes.
Give us a call to schedule your roof inspection or certification. We know timing is important when buying and/or selling a property and we will respond quickly for your convenience. Thorough inspections should be conducted semi-annually and before and after major storms or high wind events. We inspect numerous areas of potential damage.
