This kitchen has a traditional feel with its white cabinets and butcher block island, but elements like the honed cement counter tops and stainless steel appliances add a contemporary twist.

This was such a fun project working with these clients who wanted to take an old school, traditional lake house and update it. We moved the kitchen from the previous location to the breakfast area to create a more open space floor plan. We also added ship lap strategically to some feature walls and columns. The color palette we went with was navy, black, tan and cream. The decorative and central feature of the kitchen tile and family room rug really drove the direction of this project. With plenty of light once we moved the kitchen and white walls, we were able to go with dramatic black cabinets. The solid brass pulls added a little drama, but the light reclaimed open shelves and cross detail on the island kept it from getting too fussy and clean white Quartz countertops keep the kitchen from feeling too dark.
There previously wasn't a fireplace so added one for cozy winter lake days with a herringbone tile surround and reclaimed beam mantle.
To ensure this family friendly lake house can withstand the traffic, we added sunbrella slipcovers to all the upholstery in the family room.
The back screened porch overlooks the lake and dock and is ready for an abundance of extended family and friends to enjoy this beautiful updated and classic lake home.

This project was a remodel/expansion of a 1930's cottage; the architect added additional spaces, and a pool, that were modern in style. The landscape is meant to play off of both the home's original, traditional cottage style, as well as the newer, modern additions. The landscape's minimal design is meant to compliment the owner's interior aesthetic. Architecture by Brian Dillard Architecture. Home remodel by Foursquare Builders.

Ah, the Caipirinha. The deliciously citrusy national drink of Brazil. Like the liquor, this corner bar brings no shortage of flavor to this cozy kitchen, complete with colorful accent rugs, beachy barstools, and traditionally Portuguese Azulejo kitchen tiling.
A stand-out feature of this design is the liquor cabinet, complete with a colorful hexagonal backsplash, and industrial framing around its glass shelves.
Bringing back the spirit of Brazil, this kitchen incorporates many traditional elements into its design. Woven textiles, mystic paintings, and azeueljo tiling come together to create the perfect relaxed atmosphere for lounging around the kitchen or cooking churrisqueria.

We designed a modern envelope and overall tactic and had traditional old world components within it- There is a lot of contrast between the slick italian ceramic tile and the portuguese terra-cotta, against the glass tile. All faucets are traditional bronze set in a modern clean envelope. Enjoy!
