This beautiful remodeled home in a South County gated community lacked only one thing. The beautiful updated contemporary styled back yard this client and her family dreamed of. After a frustrating experience of interviewing several contractors, this client realized she needed a designer first to get the most from her total project budget’s dollar. She also quickly realized that contractors who didn't have a set of plans to bid from were just guessing on what her dream back yard would ultimately cost. After interviewing a few designers she realized there was a vast difference in what could be offered in that discipline too so she turned to her mother, who is a well-respected interior designer, for advice and our firm was highly recommended as the perfect solution for this busy professional’s project. This client and her family now enjoy a back yard that feels and looks like it has doubled in size and has more than tripled in usability while it also shines in the design style that compliments the new interior of this home. In what used to feel like a cramped space this family now enjoys a large outdoor kitchen with abundant storage, counter space, eating bar, and BBQ area. They relax in their updated spa, enjoy the spa’s new waterfall feature, converse with friends in front of their contemporary style outdoor fireplace, and enjoy their new artificial turf putting green that also serves as a dual play area for their children. The upper slope area has opened up by removing the old large plants that used to loom over their patio area. In their place are now a simple clean line look of flax, grasses, and thyme outlined by a hedge that will establish privacy for this once “fishbowl” back yard. All entertainment and garden areas are beautifully and naturally lighted by LED fixtures which increase this family’s use and enjoyment of their outdoor spaces all year long.

This is another development project EdenLA assisted the client to finish quickly and for top dollar. The fun challenge of more contemporary spaces is how to make them warm and inviting while still maintaining the overall masculine appeal of their architecture. Water features, playful custom abstract art, unique furniture layouts, and warm stone and cabinetry decisions all helped to achieve that in this space. Beach Life Construction implemented the architect's indoor-outdoor flow on the top floor beautifully as well.
