A beautiful mix of materials and colors in this custom Ikea kitchen remodel. The quartz counter top against the back wall offset with a deep rich Oak butcher block counter top on the island. The open shelving held up by industrial piping brings cohesion to the space. The mix of materials helps great a rustic sophistication. Our custom Ikea cabinet doors are present on throughout the entire kitchen. A solid maple wood rails and stiles of the shaker frame surround the plywood center panel. The ikea doors are painted a matte black. The matte texture helps draw your eye to the beautiful finishes of the room. Farm sink with industrial Kohler faucet. A large bank of beautiful operational windows. You can see the beadboard center panels of the island cabinet contrasts the standard shaker doors of the sink run cabinets. The simple subway tile with the black grout to match the black custom Ikea cabinet doors is a great touch. Ikea cabinets are a budget friendly way of getting the complete kitchen you desire. Our custom doors bring exactly the look you want without the custom cabinet price tag.

Painted White Reclaimed Wood wall paneling clads this guest space. In the kitchen, a reclaimed wood feature wall and floating reclaimed wood shelves were re-milled from wood pulled and re-used from the original structure. The open joists on the painted white ceiling give a feeling of extra head space and the natural wood textures provide warmth.

Just like in the french louvered door we have added a semi-gloss black iron window frame over tempered clear glass. One of the benefits of a reclaimed wood garage door is that the aged wood comes from old trees that provide longer wider boards. As shown in this project the long wide planks make this modern garage door fit nicely with this Newport Modern house. There are several benefits of using reclaimed timber. Because we live in a world where supply is ever shrinking as we diminish our natural resources, in addition to, over-forestation and the ever growing environmental concerns of global warming or pollutants and wood Beatles killing 15 million trees in our forests of the past decade. Using reclaimed wood helps to preserve our forests and reduces the need for cutting young trees to keep up with the growing demand for timber. The other benefit of using the old timber from barns and old structures has to do with the maturation of the tree originally. Back in the day the only cut mature trees that had reached full potential growth. This wood tends to be stringer and less likely to split or fracture. What they call virgin timber is young trees that are softer and have a greater potential to split. Using reclaimed timber give you yet one more added benefit too, the wood has been aged in an environment that allows the wood to naturally preserve and tarnish with unique characteristics. The wood in old buildings has expanded and contracted constantly over the years and has fully dried out, making it more durable and less prone to warping and splitting. Old wood also tends to have a dense grain making it more stable. Those are natural design elements that make each reclaimed door different! Not one door will be exactly the same. Since the wood has naturally preserved and tarnished then all you have to do is apply a clear coat to the door and you’re done! Thus, leaving your garage, a beautiful naturally finished garage door, that is full of rustic beauty and charm. The wood has done what the wood is going to do and colors and scars tell the 100 year plus, history. What could be more original and charming than a reclaimed wood garage door from Ziegler! You should always remember that reclaimed timber is itself, a finite resource. There are only so many old structures out there to source the wood from and eventually these too will become unavailable. In the meantime, reclaimed wood provides a valuable source of characterful material for farmhouse, traditional and rustic garage doors, and gates and shutters too! The mixture of grey green cabinets with the distressed wood floors and ceilings, gives this farmhouse kitchen a feeling of warmth. Cabinets: Brookhaven and the color is Green Stone Benjamin Moore paint color: There's not an exact match for Green Stone, but Gettysburg Grey, HC 107 is close. Sink: Krauss, model KHF200-30, stainless steel Faucet: Kraus, modelKPF-1602 Hardware: Restoration hardware, Dakota cup and Dakota round knob. The finish was either the chestnut or iron. My client is brilliant , so he did some googling (is that a word?) and came across several sites that had a recipe to do just that. He put a steel wool pad into a jar of vinegar and let it sit for a bit. In another jar, he mixed black tea with water. Brush the tea on first and let it dry. Then brush on the steel wool/vinegar (don't forget to strain the wool). Voila, the wood turns dark. Andrew McKinney Photography

While renovating their home located on a horse farm in Bedford, NY, it wasn’t surprising this husband and wife (who also is an equestrian) wanted their house to have a “barn feel”. To start, sourced reclaimed wood was used on the walls, floors and ceiling beams. This traditional kitchen, designed by Paulette Gambacorta, features Bilotta Collection cabinetry in a flush flat panel custom green paint with a glaze on maple. An added detail of a “crossbuck” end on the peninsula was custom made from reclaimed wood and inspired by the look of barn doors. Reclaimed wood shelves on iron brackets replaced upper cabinets for easy access. The marble countertops have a hand cut edge detail to resemble the look of when the stone was first quarried. An antique carpenter’s work bench was restored by the builder, for use as an island and extra work station. An apron front sink and a wains panel backsplash completed the barn look and feel.
