A shelf with basket above each coat cubby is great for keys, wallets and small items that might otherwise become lost. The cabinets above hold gear that is out-of-season or infrequently used. An additional shoe cupboard that spans from floor to ceiling offers a place to keep boots and extra shoes. I really need to have these New York–style closet shelves in my laundry room. I love the mix of the wood shelf and the metal bar. They would take a laundry room from drab to fab. Price varies by size from $79 to $199.

An old ironing board cabinet from the kitchen was repurposed for keys, wallets and a charging station for cell phones. A full height pantry was added to the mudroom for overflow food storage. The mudroom also has a washer and dryer, a large sink, a second dishwasher and a large countertop perfect for folding laundry or cleaning up after a get together.
