For this family home we were inspired by a ‘boutique hotel’ modern aesthetic. Creating playful, colorful moments throughout the home with punches of chartreuse, purple, and peacock blue along with geometric patterns, this space becomes a sophisticated yet funky extension of the homeowners. Powder room - transitional powder room idea in Chicago

This 6500 s.f. new home on one of the best blocks in San Francisco’s Pacific Heights, was designed for the needs of family with two work-from-home professionals. We focused on well-scaled rooms and excellent flow between spaces. We applied customized classical detailing and luxurious materials over a modern design approach of clean lines and state-of-the-art contemporary amenities. Materials include integral color stucco, custom mahogany windows, book-matched Calacatta marble, slate roofing and wrought-iron railings.

Black and white carry throughout this crisp powder room: black and white marble floor tiles, black and white graphic wallpaper, and a black and white double wall sconce. Elegant white bathroom fixtures, including the pedestal sink, and a long narrow silver framed rectangular mirror bring additional brightness to this small powder room. WKD’s experience in historic preservation and antique curation restored this gentleman’s farm into a casual, comfortable, livable home for the next chapter in this couple’s lives. The project included a new family entrance and mud room, new powder room, and opening up some of the rooms for better circulation. While WKD curated the client’s existing collection of art and antiques, refurbishing where necessary, new furnishings were also added to give the home a new lease on life. "Ordinary to Extraordinary" The client's desire was a fancy bathroom for daughter to express her personality and interest. She enjoys French design and delights in beautiful materials. Bathroom finishes include an exquisite counter top made out of semi-precious quartz stones with a translucent quality; shimmery crystal vanity fixture; beautiful glass tile used as a dominant accent in the vanity area. Feng Shui elements were used to enhance daughter's personality. Water element (inward, deep thinking) found in the movement in the faux finishes,, the crystals, fish is artwork. Metal element (detail-oriented energy) found in the metal accents throughout and the white painted cabinets.

It was very important that the home be warm, tailored and friendly while remaining functional to create an atmosphere for entertainment as well as resale. This was accomplished by using the same paint color throughout the 11,000 sq.ft home while each space conveyed a different feeling.
