'Sweet 100' cherry tomatoes growing in a 15-gallon terra-cotta pot. Container-grown tomatoes are more susceptible to blossom end rot, but cherry tomatoes like 'Sweet 100', 'Sungold', and 'Black Cherry' rarely have this problem. Photo by Steve Masley

A durable, meaningful design heals a devastated residential property bordering Acadia National Park and Somes Sound on Maine’s Mount Desert Island. Comprehensive stormwater management strategies shape new landforms, resulting in elegant grading and thoughtful drainage solutions. Native plant colonies stabilize the site, regenerate habitat, and reveal wildlife patterns. Exquisitely crafted new masonry, built from an authentic palette of local reclaimed materials, gives the garden a unified, established feel. Lichen-encrusted stone retaining walls define edges, thresholds, and overlooks, and thick slabs of salvaged granite embedded in the earth provide gathering terraces and pathways. With balance restored, brilliant seasonal drama unfolds.

This entry's simple composition of lighting layers and well coordinated details create a stunning view for those who enter this incredible Aspen home. Exterior stone is grazed, glass lines are backlit above the fireplace, cove lighting creates ambient light and trimless square accents in the vaulted wood ceiling accent the furniture.

A rural hillside residence in Downeast Maine serves as a model for regenerating fragmented native plant communities and restoring damaged site systems. Sensible land management practices guide the homeowner’s efforts to rehabilitate expansive areas of mown lawn. Spaces carved from the landscape overlook stunning panoramic regional views, while new plantings define edges and thresholds. Brilliant seasonal drama is heightened along mown paths meandering through a rich tapestry of managed native meadow.

The best kitchen showroom in your area may be closer closer than you think. The four designers there are some of the most experienced award winning kitchen designers in the Delaware Valley. They design in and sell 6 national cabinet lines. And their pricing for cabinetry is slightly less than at home centers in apples to apples comparisons. Where is this kitchen showroom and how come you don’t remember seeing it when it is so close by? It’s in your own home!
Main Line Kitchen Design brings all the same samples you select from when you travel to other showrooms to your home. We make design changes on our laptops in 20-20 CAD with you present usually in the very kitchen being renovated. Understanding what designs will look like and how sample kitchen cabinets, doors, and finishes will look in your home is easy when you are standing in the very room being renovated. Design changes can be emailed to you to print out and discuss with friends and family if you choose. Best of all our design time is free since it is incorporated into the very competitive pricing of your cabinetry when you purchase a kitchen from Main Line Kitchen Design.

This kitchen used an in-frame design with mainly one painted colour, that being the Farrow & Ball Old White. This was accented with natural oak on the island unit pillars and on the bespoke cooker hood canopy. The Island unit features slide away tray storage on one side with tongue and grove panelling most of the way round. All of the Cupboard internals in this kitchen where clad in a Birch veneer.
The main Focus of the kitchen was a Mercury Range Cooker in Blueberry. Above the Mercury cooker was a bespoke hood canopy designed to be at the correct height in a very low ceiling room. The sink and tap where from Franke, the sink being a VBK 720 twin bowl ceramic sink and a Franke Venician tap in chrome.
The whole kitchen was topped of in a beautiful granite called Ivory Fantasy in a 30mm thickness with pencil round edge profile.

The dining area has classy formal furniture that is complimented with an unusual light fixture. The space has enough sophistication with a slight touch of quirkiness. Wide range of artefacts and paintings further add to the aesthetics.

The seamless blend of styles in this sitting space conveys a contemporary feel with an organic mix of vintage, rustic and glamour. Sophisticated drama would probably be the best way to describe the arrangement of this gorgeous room, where every detail has been accounted for. David Giles
