A green space for children in an urban environment to play outside is very valuable. That space can be a nearby playground, a park or even better a balcony, like in this case. Unique decoration that catches the eye of any visitor contributes to the cheerful atmosphere of the balcony. The floor has been covered by artificial grass, which is a safe and appropriate material for the small ones to play on the floor. At the west side there is a vegetables bed with a low bench, which creates a safe limit and can also be used by children. When there is not much time to go to a playground, this balcony is a perfect solution for spending fun moments outside.

Thinking of a family space within a kitchen? An island is a bold statement will provide the ideal solution to create a family space. The darker island catches the eye of any visitor while the contrasting background units create the most soothing and welcoming space.
Archadeck of Nova Scotia
At Archadeck of Nova Scotia we love any size project big or small. But, that being said, we have a soft spot for the projects that let us show off our talents! This Halifax house was no exception. The owners wanted a space to suit their outdoor lifestyle with materials to last far into the future. The choices were quite simple: stone veneer, Timbertech composite decking and glass railing.
What better way to create that stability than with a solid foundation, concrete columns and decorative stone veneer? The posts were all wrapped with stone and match the retaining wall which was installed to help with soil retention and give the backyard more definition (it’s not too hard on the eyes either).
A set of well-lit steps will guide you up the multi-level deck. The built-in planters soften the hardness of the Timbertech composite deck and provide a little visual relief. The two-tone aesthetic of the deck and railing are a stunning feature which plays up contrasting tones.
From there it’s a game of musical chairs; we recommend the big round one on a September evening with a glass of wine and cozy blanket.
We haven’t gotten there quite yet, but this property has an amazing view (you will see soon enough!). As to not spoil the view, we installed TImbertech composite railing with glass panels. This allows you to take in the surrounding sights while relaxing and not have those pesky balusters in the way.
In any Canadian backyard, there is always the dilemma of dealing with mosquitoes and black flies! Our solution to this itchy problem is to incorporate a screen room as part of your design. This screen room in particular has space for dining and lounging around a fireplace, perfect for the colder evenings!
Ahhh…there’s the view! From the top level of the deck you can really get an appreciation for Nova Scotia. Life looks pretty good from the top of a multi-level deck. Once again, we installed a composite and glass railing on the new composite deck to capture the scenery.
What puts the cherry on top of this project is the balcony! One of the greatest benefits of composite decking and railing is that it can be curved to create beautiful soft edges. Imagine sipping your morning coffee and watching the sunrise over the water.
If you want to know more about composite decking, railing or anything else you’ve seen that sparks your interest; give us a call! We’d love to hear from you.

Aspect Project Management
Lampton Place was rented out to long-term tenants whilst the refurbishment took place. The client lived and worked outside London.
In the quickest time possible the kitchen was renovated and the property was decorated and interior and exterior renovation works completed.
The job had to be done efficiently as the tenants lived in the property during the refurbishment and our job was to minimize the noise, mess and inconvenience to the tenants, as well as keeping the landlord informed of the progress and come up with effective solutions to the challenges.
CLIENT FEEDBACK
“Aspect Project Management were recommended to me by Winkworth’s Estate Agents, for whom they were already undertaking a refurbishment project on a house in West London.
I was so grateful for the recommendation, as they were instrumental in completing the refurbishment, including a new kitchen, whilst tenants remained living there without disturbance. This was no mean feat and a task that required good timing, reliable workmen and a great deal of tact and consideration – even our tenants were kept happy during the process and with the final result!
Their main strengths are their ability to manage high quality contractors and ensure a highly competitive price as a result. All work was completed quickly and to a high specification with a great eye for detail and what is appropriate, and an attention to detail.
The project manager reported back to me regularly and was particularly good at keeping the tenant informed and on side.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Aspect Project Management services unreservedly should anyone wish to engage a cost effective agent to oversee works on any property.”

The Association of Pool & Spa Professionals
One of the initial challenges for this project was the fact that I was asked to come in with a concept and design a after a number of other pool professionals. That can be an advantage in some situations where the people that preceded you all had a similar idea and concept and we go drastically in a different direction. Either way, that approach usually opens the eyes of the customer to the fact that there are other ways of seeing things and other ways of tackling a difficult site. In this case there was a more level area in a more remote part of the property which would've been easier to build on. Without question. What we offered was the ability to create something dramatic and unique and in the end became actually breathtaking. This involved doing a raised pool and spa combination built into an existing ledge that needed to be exposed and chopped out not only for the raised spa area but for the entire depth of the pool. A large amount of tree clearing was also going to be necessary as well as a plan to deal with the mountains of rock, ledge and granite that was going to come out of this excavation site. Another large challenge was that the choice of this location also made the proximity of the pool to the home extremely close. We needed to come up with a design that included planters and buffers so that the pool would not look and feel like it was too close to the house. By modifying the existing pressure-treated deck off the back of the house as well as raising what would be the final grade of the pool we were able to eliminate any railings that were present for that deck . What that achieved was a wide-open feel and look to the project . Now ,from anywhere in the back of the house the view of the pool the spa and the ledge rising up and around the entire area is a dramatic one, to say the least. The act of removing the ledge that was necessary to create this oasis closely resembled actually sculpting the ledge. We wanted and needed to preserve certain aspects of the exposed ledge areas as we wanted them to blend into the rest of the masonry that we were going to create. Steps and walkways etc. Besides aesthetics, practical solutions, for storm runoff, pockets for future planting and screening of the neighbors properties was a large part of our design and challenge. We were able to blend some of the larger ledge pieces that were excavated into the hard scape, the retaining walls the stone veneer surrounding the spa as well as unique coping pieces and the diving rock. We even used pieces of the ledge as grab rails for the custom swim out in the deep end. Matching granite was used to veneer all the underwater steps benches and swim outs. The spa was designed and constructed with party mode in mind. From the custom stone veneer entrance steps to the multilevel benches and our exclusive" deep soak" hydrotherapy well, it was all part of a custom concept. We actually measure as a tailor would, the dimensions of our hydrotherapy wells to the specific customer. which sometimes comically means that one spouse might be in over their head. In this case we were lucky as the dimensions seem to fit both spouses correctly. In other projects we have actually done his and hers deep wells so that everyone is happy!

THE SETUP
“You have to figure out how to rebuild a life worth living,” Basia Kozub’s client says. Her husband passed away suddenly three years ago. Holidays with family became more important, and she found herself struggling with a 37-year old kitchen that was falling apart. “I made a decision to move forward,” she says. “I went, ‘You know what? I’m redoing the kitchen.'”
The big task of getting started was as easy as having a conversation – literally. Basia was on the job, helping the client sort through priorities, wishes and ideas. Basia’s client is 5′ 4″, likes keeping an eye on the kiddoes in the backyard and wanted certain things to have their own place.
THE REMODEL
The objectives were:
Enlarge and open the space
Find a classic look that incorporates blues
Upgrade to easy-to-use appliances
Hide an office space within the space
Ample storage for dishes
Design challenges:
Uneven window alignment on the back wall
Original kitchen smaller than desired, stuctural concerns if walls to be moved
Keep folks close – figure out seating for entertaining
Main sink in corner is ideal, but windows are hard to reach
Lots of storage needed for dishes, glass collection, pantry items, bar bottles and office supplies
Specific storage needs for oft-used spices and utensils
THE RENEWED SPACE
Design solutions:
Replace back wall windows, establish window size continuity
Take out two walls to open up the space, tall shallow cabinet and a tall filler added to conceal a new header
Large island that seats six easily
Custom corner sink cabinet with recessed edge allows vertically challenged homeowner to reach the windows
Mindful storage planning features: plenty of cabinets, pull-out bar bottle storage, file drawers & cubbies with pocket doors for office appliances, magic corner pullouts, and appliance garages with pocket doors
Shelf behind range for easy access to daily-use spices and oils. Also: spice and utensil pullouts on either side of range
The clients says every priority and wish box got checked. The highly functional design absorbed everything that used to be in that area of the house, but now those things are out of the way.
“In the past, we were all spread out when we gathered for the holidays, because we had to spread out. Now, we’re all in here together, including my 92-year old mother. We’re visiting, cooking, laughing… everyone is here. And I’m really learning how to use these appliances. This kitchen has given me a whole new life.”

Opening up the kitchen entry was key to creating a welcoming view to the kitchen, terrace and the NYC skyline. It also meant we could create and install a custom pull up bar mounted in the entrance doorway – a requirement for our client, the gym buff’s, daily workout! In a city that every inch counts, this welded monkey bar became a sculptural element instead of an eye sore.

This kitchen remodel is truly one of a character. The warmth of these cabinets from New River, the sleek back-splash pattern, and the enormous amount of light coming in from a clerestory window, make this kitchen scream inviting.
Before this kitchen was somewhat dark, and did not reflect the personalities of our homeowners. They invited us into their homes, and together we created this gorgeous new kitchen.
Our homeowners frequently found themselves sitting in the balcony area of this kitchen, so together we came up with a design that incorporated this area into the kitchen. With Coffee or tea within an arm’s length, who wouldn’t want to spend the morning watching the sun rise right in this little area?
We wanted to create the look of “cabinetry to ceiling” but were unable to move the soffits in this kitchen. Our solution? Custom Cabinetry trim to create this illusion. We think it turned out beautifully!
We also wanted to work together to open up the kitchen into the formal dining space, but didn’t want to remove too many walls or sacrifice cabinetry storage. We created a pass through above standard counter top height with it’s own bar top between these two rooms. Now food, drinks, and conversation can easily pass through these areas.
Two recessed lights built into the cabinets add visual interest, and functional lighting in our new pass through area.
The products that you find in this kitchen are contributors of the warm feeling you get when you walk into this kitchen. The cabinetry is from New River, made in Roanoke, VA. The wood species is Maple, and the door style is “Somerset.” The finish called “choral” adds warmth with it’s reddish undertone.
On of our favorite features in this kitchen is the glass inserts in the cabinetry above and adjacent to the new gas stove from GE. Glass detail in cabinetry always breaks up the cabinets by adding a place for the eye to immediately go to. These are unique as they are a wavy textured glass that allow you to get a peek inside of the cabinets, but are not fully transparent.

Henrietta Heisler Interiors Inc
Situated in Lancaster county overlooking Amish farms this older home had excellent bones to create a modern, industrial look. The original kitchen had traditional walnut cabinets and a rustic look. The client from San Francisco recognized the potential and hired us to come up with a design that matched their taste and coordinated with the house - modern with a little bit of industrial chic.
It was important that the kitchen had counter space, storage, and seating. Space was limited we removed a wall and added a niche wall with the refrigerator.
Our client requested lots of storage space to create a clear and uncluttered counter. All cooking equipment and small appliances have a place. A large pantry was created for extra storage. Full height cabinets on either side of the refrigerator provide storage and easy access to small kitchen appliances. Top hinged cabinet doors make storage easily accessible. Drawers were used for base cabinets so that items are easily within reach. Moving from the sink to the range and to the refrigerator is easy with just a few steps between each appliance - making cooking a breeze. Globe lights over the island create plenty of light for cooking, eating or working. Under-counter lighting and hidden hood lighting provide additional brightness. A long marble topped island with a waterfall edge serves as a prep station and counter for serving. The upper counter can be used for seating, standing, and serving.
Using a monochromatic palette with wood accents kept the design clean and allows the eye to settle on beautiful details. The results are a functional, open modern feeling kitchen, with a beautiful backdrop of the Amishfarm outside full length windows. It is very special.

The problem? The neighbor's dilapidated shed was in direct view from the kitchen sink/prep area. The solution? Three custom aluminum panels measure 48" wide by 132" tall strategically placed near the lot line, if not to totally cover, at least to distract the eye from the surroundings beyond.

A young couple with two children living in suburban Bombay in a three-bedroom apartment decided to give their home a complete makeover. They invited us to plan and design their new apartment. The apartment includes a living room, dining area, kitchen, three bedrooms with attached bathrooms. The brief was to create a modern and minimalist design that balances aesthetics and functionality.
Nearly all the walls apart from the structure were gutted and rebuilt. The planning of spaces was more or less kept the same as the building services did not allow for much flexibility in moving or swapping spaces. All surfaces from the flooring to the wall finishes to carpentry everything was replaced and redesigned keeping in mind the client's requirements.
Along one wall of the living room, a set of asymmetrical storage units have been lined up that provide a solution for shoe storage, old newspapers and other knick-knacks. A lower storage unit serves as a bin for the storage of athletic kits for the children.
It was essential to create a sound design so we defined a palette of colours and materials that is repeated through the apartment. The floor is carpeted in a reflective surface to help us carry the light through the space and the walls washed white with the furniture in hues of birch and beech wood, veneer and laminates with touches of sunshine yellow, shades of blue and blush pink.
The dining space doubles up as a transitional space and was designed to allow for eye contact with the living room, kitchen and the bedrooms. It is bookended by two asymmetrical keyhole arches. These keyhole arches that are offset help shield the dining space and the private spaces partially from the entryway of the apartment.
The space is functional, simple, airy and yet complete. The firm shell of the house is set off by a colour palette that is soft and feminine.

These clients were in the second stage of renovating their stylish Tudor when we were approached to help formulate a final design plan for entertainment, technology integration and lighting design and control systems. Although the plan was to implement the final completion of these systems in stages, we needed to prepare the appropriate wiring to accomplish the end goals.
We provided a lighting design plan for the areas under construction and some simple control solutions from Lutron and Universal Remote Control. Once the Family room was completed we brought in the BDI Novia A/V Cabinet in Coco stained Cherry. This excellent piece of A/V furniture was just large enough to house the entertainment system along with the homes WiFi router.
The A/V system was built around a Denon AVR 3809Ci. Source components consisted of Comcast Cable HD DVR, Samsung Blu-Ray DVD player and an Apple TV. The Apple TV was the primarily used for playing the clients music and sharing their family pictures on the 50” Samsung LED TV. The Samsung Blu-Ray DVD player was designed with an internet application for Pandora Radio which is a great way to experience a wide variety of music by creating sets of personable radio stations.
Listing to the entertainment system is a real joy with the Totem Tribe in-wall speakers. These sealed cabinet in-wall speakers are some of the best in the world for a very reasonable price. The Velodyne MiniVee 10 was used as the subwoofer. Panamax surge protection was incorporated for everything including the TV.
The Universal Remote Control MX-980 was programmed to operate the primary entertainment system along with multiple audio zones for Kitchen, Dining, Patio, Master Bed & Bathroom through the Aton DLA6 zoned speaker selector and volume controller. Additional MX900 was used to support the master suite control within that area.
A Lutron Graphic eye was used in the Dining room to manage all of the lighting scenes while the Family room was controlled via the MX-980 remote and RF replacement wall dimmers. This was a great balance of budget and appropriate user interface options.

Paragon Kitchens
A century home renovation that showcases elegant design and expert installation.
With any kitchen design, we strive for visual balance and repetition of elements to soothe the eye such as with the closet to the left and the pantry to the left of the microwave wall. By keeping the heights in line and crown moulding identical, we achieved visual balance between the two disparate elements.
UpScapers - Authorized Vistafolia Partner
We are often asked whether there are any limits to the Vistafolia system, and the answer is simple: the functions of our green walls are limited only by your imagination. Whether indoor or outdoor, residential or commercial, large or small, every space can benefit from our products. In some cases, we get the opportunity to combine large and small spaces on the same project.
This is a great example of such a project, with them wanting to beautify a section of bland walling that was a little ugly to the eye, while requiring a practical solution that would deter any would-be trespassers. For the large wall, we adorned it with our luxurious green panels, customized with exciting bursts of lavender. In no time at all, the client went from having unsightly brickwork, to a maintenance free, lush green ribbon of planting befitting of any environment.
