We created a drop Zone just off the garage entry into the Mud Room. The were places for the mail to be sorted by name, a palce to hang bookbags & umbrellas. An area where you can charge your phone & PDA's and other items needed charging. A large bench seat to sit and change your shoes or remove your boots. There are large pullout draws under the bench seat to store your pet foods and a place for the Fire extinguisher. There's a chalk board on the side for messages to the family just coming home and a large Key hanger for those keys that always seem to get lost. There was a pet shower on the other side of the drop zone for those muddy pets.
So when Mom is aksed " do you know where my ....... is" she says " Did you check in the drop zone?"

The conversion of this historic Victorian carriage house (a City of LA Monument) into a new guest house/pool cabana included the addition of new decks, a 50' lap pool, and a new spa with integrated fire pit. The pool aligns with the french doors leading out from the living room of the main house, leaving room on one side for wood decks and planters and on the other for a series of concrete pads designed to accomodate pool-side lounging.

The apartment: 2,300 square feet on the 14th floor of a prewar building across from the Museum of Natural History designed for a family with two school-age children. A loft-like living room, dining room and kitchen share spectacular north facing views over the museum and Central Park. Freestanding storage cabinets with clear glass above subdivide the space and enhance the feeling of openness. The owner requested a neutral palette of colors set against white walls and rich mahogany cabinetry. Crisp details and multiple textures result in a warm and sophisticated family home.
