A StairMeister Log Works custom 55-1/4" hand carved tread beetle kill pine spiral stair. This stair is totally custom, This stair replaces the previous submarine style metal stair. I designed this stair as big as I possibly could to fit the existing space and meet the 1-1/2" rail code. Notice the hand dovetailed joinery to connect the baluster to the tread with perfect contrast. This photo was actually taken by the owner on her cell phone. I just love this photo it captures so much! Notice how the first tread and the optional root base were perfectly rotated for easy access. Besides its size the landing and 2nd floor door above were the controlling factors in this design,

We worked with our clients who wanted to add a powder room to the main floor of their Victorian home, by re-imagining the crawl space under the stairs, and expanding into this sea worthy half bath. You immediately feel as though you are on a boat with cedar wood lined walls and ceiling, solid brass plumbing trim from Kingston Brass, a thoughtfully curated enamel antique enamel bucket sink (Restored from https://readytore.com/) soap on a rope, and wall mounted toilet.
The brass mirror was sourced from eBay and rope mirror from Provincetown, on Cape Cod.
The solid brass light fixture is from Urban Electric, wallpaper from Cole & Sons.

Inspiration for a small 1960s dark wood floor and brown floor wine cellar remodel in Denver with storage racks

I don't know how architects in the 50's expected families to function in the kitchen, maybe they figured if the space was cramped enough, everyone would stay out of dear old Mom's way, or maybe most of the designers back then were fresh off submarine duty.
The original kitchen in this ranch was not much wider than a hallway and about ten feet long. This kitchen face-lift was really the addition of one since the original only had enough space for an oven, sink and refrigerator.
The clients wanted a farm style look with eat-in space and gourmet functionality. We created both an addition and bump-out to accomplish their goals.

Along one of the Mission District’s most cosmopolitan blocks, an Italianate home is expanded with two substantial yet stealthy additions. Peeking out above the restored front façade, a new third story bedroom level hints at the comprehensively transformed spaces within. The project integrates modern design, bountiful natural light sources, high efficiency systems, and repurposed building materials with new and original hand-crafted detailing.
