Located in, Summit Park, Park City UT lies one of the most efficient houses in the country. The Summit Haus – designed and built by Chris Price of PCD+B, is an exploration in design and construction of advanced high performance housing. Seeing a rising demand for sustainable housing along with rising Carbon emissions leading to global warming, this house strives to show that sensible, good design can create spaces adequate for today’s housing demands while adhering to strict standards. The house was designed to meet the very rigid Passiv House rating system – 90% more efficient than a typical home in the area. The house itself was intended to nestle neatly into the 45 degree sloped site and to take full advantage of the limited solar access and views. The views range from short, highly wooded views to a long corridor out towards the Uinta Mountain range towards the east. The house was designed and built based off Passiv Haus standards, and the framing and ventilation became critical elements to maintain such minimal energy requirements. Zola triple-pane, tilt-and-turn Thermo uPVC windows contribute substantially to the home’s energy efficiency, and takes advantage of the beautiful surrounding of the location, including forrest views from the deck off of the kitchen. This office is furnished beautifully with an elegant desk, holds substantial storage, with a backdrop of delicate natural textures in the rug reminiscent of a garden, crisp linen drapes on a brass french return curtain rod, and the beginnings of a gallery wall.

On a break from residential architecture we created and fabricated this RIBA AWARD WINNING window display for fashion week at Liberty London. Collaboration with Architecture Social Club. The installation emphasises Liberty’s pivotal influence upon the fashion world. It complemented the store’s design, the eclecticism of its collections and Liberty’s individual identity among London’s high-street shops. The display focuses on the figure of Arthur Lasenby Liberty and casts him in the role of fashion’s liberator. He is portrayed as encountering a dissolute, fantastical and depraved couture landscape that represents London’s pre-Liberty’s world; as the narrative continues, Arthur is shown to herald a new promise of better, higher quality fashion for the city. The narrative plays on the iconography of ‘Noah’s ark’ and the imagery of sea-faring harks back to the naval history of the famous shop front on Great Marlborough Street – the Grade II* Tudor-revival building was constructed in 1924 using the timbers of two ships: the HMS Impregnable and HMS Hindustan. We delivered a strong core idea allowing us to have a broader impact than the project’s initial scope, Liberty used the concept for shop arrangement and innovative marketing campaigns. Elements of the Noah’s Ark theme extended into the shop with over a hundred golden birds arranged in the atrium, and clothes rearranged into 2 by 2’s. The project gained a large amount of positive press and reviews which ultimately increased sponsorship interest for Liberty. Through a collaborative process our team began shape the project through experimentation and close collaboration with Liberty. This substantially reduced build cost by 40% by prototyping and developing in-house with technologies such as CNC machinery, laser cutters 3D Printers to create animals, machinery and boats.
