A traditional home in the Claremont Hills of Berkeley is enlarged and fully renovated to fit the lives of a young couple and their growing family. The existing partial upper floor was fully expanded to create three additional bedrooms, a hall bath, laundry room and updated master suite, with the intention that the expanded house volume harmoniously integrates with the architectural character of the existing home. A new central staircase brings in a tremendous amount of daylight to the heart of the ground floor while also providing a strong visual connection between the floors. The new stair includes access to an expanded basement level with storage and recreation spaces for the family. Main level spaces were also extensively upgraded with the help of noted San Francisco interior designer Grant K. Gibson. Photos by Kathryn MacDonald.

The clean, uninterrupted sight lines of this bathroom lead the eye to the arched shower room opening, where on the right is the shower and to the left, a built-in whirlpool tub. The clerestory daylighting contributes masterfully to the ambient light while affording privacy, and unique touches like above-mount sinks, wall-mount fixtures, framed mirrors and teak mats provide the bathroom with plenty of personality.

This pool and spa is built in an affluent neighborhood with many new homes that are traditional in design but have modern, clean details. Similar to the homes, this pool takes a traditional pool and gives it a clean, modern twist. The site proved to be perfect for a long lap pool that the client desired with plenty of room for a separate spa. The two bodies of water, though separate, are visually linked together by a custom limestone raised water feature wall with 10 custom Bobe water scuppers.
Quality workmanship as required throughout the entire build to ensure the automatic pool cover would remain square the entire 50 foot length of the pool.
Features of this pool and environment that enhance the aesthetic appeal of this project include:
-Glass waterline tile
-Glass seat and bench tile
-Glass tile swim lane marking on pool floor
-Custom limestone coping and deck
-PebbleTec pool finish
-Synthetic Turf Lawn
This outdoor environment cohesively brings the clean & modern finishes of the home seamlessly to the outdoors to a pool and spa for play, exercise and relaxation.

- Includes headboard, footboard, canopy frame, rails, and slats.
- Metal is finished in a dark Blackened Bronze.
The beautiful Magnolia Home line was designed exclusively by Joanna Gaines to convey her fresh, unique design style that embodies her lifestyle of home and family. Each piece falls onto a specific genre: Boho, Farmhouse, French Inspired, Industrial, Primitive or Traditional. Painted finishes and wood stains are offered that replicate the look of age-worn vintage patinas.
This piece is part of her Traditional genre, which is today's interpretation of yesterday's timelessness. It blends traditional lines with unexpected flare. This style's details are familiar, but simplified and freshened with easygoing finishes.

This Old Village home received a kitchen and master bathroom facelift. As a full renovation, we completely gutted both spaces and reinvented them as functional and upgraded rooms for this young family to enjoy for years to come. With the assistance of interior design selections by Krystine Edwards, the end result is glamorous yet inviting.
Inside the master suite, the homeowners enter their renovated master bathroom through custom-made sliding barn doors. Hard pine floors were installed to match the rest of the home. To the right we installed a double vanity with wall-to-wall mirrors, Vitoria honed vanity top, campaign style hardware, and chrome faucets and sconces. Again, the Cliq Studios cabinets with inset drawers and doors were custom painted. The left side of the bathroom has an amazing free-standing tub but with a built-in niche on the adjacent wall. Finally, the large shower is dressed in Carrera Marble wall and floor tiles.

Gracious and timeless, this coordinating butler’s pantry and open dining room featuring a custom hood surround are the heart of this stunning home. O'Brien Harris Cabinetry in Chicago worked on this custom home for the builders of Tiburon Homes as their personal residence. The biggest challenge/opportunity of this kitchen was the size and openness of the space. We created natural functions in the large space, dividing it into four main areas: casual dining, butler’s pantry, serving station, and main kitchen. The division was achieved through a variety of cabinet and finish styles, yet the space still feels cohesive, quiet, and organized.
The finish is Oxford rift and quartered oak and with a soft ceruse, a favorite in the O’Brien Harris library. The cabinetry has integrated hardware—campaign-style pulls on the drawers give it a furniture feel. In the kitchen, a finishing touch is oak banding around the cooktop and range cabinetry and refrigeration units. We integrated the oak finish into the island and raised it up to feel lighter, adding polished stainless-steel cuffs to the legs. obrienharris.com
