The client admired this Victorian home from afar for many years before purchasing it. The extensive rehabilitation restored much of the house to its original style and grandeur; interior spaces were transformed in function while respecting the elaborate details of the era. A new kitchen, breakfast area, study and baths make the home fully functional and comfortably livable.

Restored terrace over front porch has new guardrail with slats for more privacy. Cut-out designs were popular in bungalow era, including motifs with hearts, diamonds, spades and clubs. Decking is a certified mahogany over membrane roofing. We replaced roof sheathing below eaves when the house was reroofed.

This 700 square foot deck remodel involved taking the deck down to the brick pillars as the existing deck structural was woefully insufficient or incorrectly constructed.
Structural modifications included setting the new triple 2x12 deck girders inside the columns (rather than exposed to the outside), installing a 5 1/4" x 17" treated engineered beam to meet the span requirements and cantilever requirements forced by the inset upper deck, new KDAT 2x8 floor joists at 12" on-center, adding a new brick pillar under the steps to support a previously unsupported 5' cantilever, stringer header for the long stair run and adjusted the tread depth to 12" from 10".
The finishing components included TimberTech's XLM Walnut Grove pvc decking, and a customized TimberTech Radiance Railing system consisting of Traditional Walnut Rails, Deckorators Estate Collection Balusters (black) and 5" Coastal White Post Sleeves.
The stairs were accented with TimberTech's LED DeckLite bronze riser lights.

We were hired to add space to their cottage while still maintaining the current architectural style. We enlarged the home's living area, created a larger mudroom off the garage entry, enlarged the screen porch and created a covered porch off the dining room and the existing deck was also enlarged. On the second level, we added an additional bunk room, bathroom, and new access to the bonus room above the garage. The exterior was also embellished with timber beams and brackets as well as a stunning new balcony off the master bedroom. Trim details and new staining completed the look.

The outdoor porch areas were a sentimental area for the male homeowner as he had many memories of time spent out of doors with family. A solid structure was built around the side porch with the pavers kept in tact. On the back porch, the stacked stone had settled unevenly so they rebuilt it using the existing stone.

This side porch has motorized Executive Screens by Phantom Screens to keep the space bug free when needed. The screens retract out of sight when not in use.

Retractable Screens, also known as Roll-up Screens and Vertical Rolling Screens are completely customized to meet the needs of the space.
Easy to see through and completely retractable, exterior Retractable Screens create a cool, comfortable, insect-free environment without sacrificing your view. Designed to provide superior solar protection, they mitigate UV damage, optimize comfort and provide daytime privacy even in windy settings.
Extra sun control can be achieved by increasing thread counts and weave density. Retractable Solar Shades provide energy-efficient sun shading, shelter against bugs and mosquitoes, climate control and rain/wind reduction while allowing outward visibility. Depending on screen fabric selection, our solar shade fabric selections are capable of blocking up to 95% of ultra-violet (UV) rays–saving up to 50% of the energy used to heat and cool homes.
Motorize Retractable Screens provide control at the touch of a button. Somfy Motors allow activation by wall mounted toggle switch or several different types of remote control options. These Retractable Screens will stop at upper and lower limits and are able to stop any where along the travel path on command.
Optional Manual Override features allow for operation in case of power outage for motorized units. Manual Operations are available on most models.
Motorized Retractable Screens equipped with Somfy RTS motors may be upgraded for use in Smart Homes and operated via Smartphone or other Mobile Devices.
Retractable Screens should be retracted when not in use. The screens are raised and housed inside the aluminum housing. All major components of the system are powder coated aluminum for durability, ease of operations, and longevity. All Retractable Screens from Shade & Shutter Systems come with a 5 year Warranty, to include the Somfy Motor.
Retractable Screens offer wind and rain abatement for breezy days. Many of our clients enjoy outdoor patio settings along coastal areas and beach front properties. Those areas also endure regular breezes that can be knocked down with retractable Screens for a more enjoyable experience. Although these screens are not designed for storm protection, winds to 40 mph are easily abated.

Stunning Outdoor Remodel in the heart of Kingstown, Alexandria, VA 22310.
Michael Nash Design Build & Homes created a new stunning screen porch with dramatic color tones, a rustic country style furniture setting, a new fireplace, and entertainment space for large sporting event or family gatherings.
The old window from the dining room was converted into French doors to allow better flow in and out of home. Wood looking porcelain tile compliments the stone wall of the fireplace. A double stacked fireplace was installed with a ventless stainless unit inside of screen porch and wood burning fireplace just below in the stoned patio area. A big screen TV was mounted over the mantel.
Beaded panel ceiling covered the tall cathedral ceiling, lots of lights, craftsman style ceiling fan and hanging lights complimenting the wicked furniture has set this screen porch area above any project in its class.
Just outside of the screen area is the Trex covered deck with a pergola given them a grilling and outdoor seating space. Through a set of wrapped around staircase the upper deck now is connected with the magnificent Lower patio area. All covered in flagstone and stone retaining wall, shows the outdoor entertaining option in the lower level just outside of the basement French doors. Hanging out in this relaxing porch the family and friends enjoy the stunning view of their wooded backyard.
The ambiance of this screen porch area is just stunning.

Architect and Landis Construction’s Director of Design, Paul Gaiser, transformed a brick mid-century rambler into a stunning 6,000 sq. ft. shingled beauty in the Nantucket style, which fits a family of four nicely. Paul opened up the boxy and dark formal rooms of the old house creating a wide open interior space, that are though light and airy, are anchored by strong and uncompromised detail work. All of the windows and doors are high quality. And all of the moldings and casements were large, strong and widely proportioned to suit the bigger expanses.
