This modern home with hints of classic design is situated on a hilltop estate in Pacific Palisades, California. Architect and Designer, Michelle Anaya, took on the challenge of renovating the home into the breathtaking residence that it is today. The home features Hallmark Floors: Engineered Hardwood Floors throughout most of the interior. The vision of the interior design was influenced by the outdoors. The home boasts a world-class view highlighted by large windows featuring some of the best sights in the country. Five rigorous years of planning, detailed designing, and extensive renovating resulted in a stunning outcome. “The color of the floor was the perfect selection to compliment the home’s natural landscape with the interior. I needed a floor that would compliment these natural colors… I didn’t want to compete with the sky, the greenery, and the ocean. The floors came out amazing!”

A partial remodel of a Marin ranch home, this residence was designed to highlight the incredible views outside its walls. The husband, an avid chef, requested the kitchen be a joyful space that supported his love of cooking. High ceilings, an open floor plan, and new hardware create a warm, comfortable atmosphere. With the concept that “less is more,” we focused on the orientation of each room and the introduction of clean-lined furnishings to highlight the view rather than the decor, while statement lighting, pillows, and textures added a punch to each space.

This view highlights the thoughtful upgrades made to enhance both comfort and functionality. Where there was once an open walkway, we installed a custom door to provide privacy and define the space. Heated flooring runs throughout, adding everyday luxury, while the sleek black heated towel rack ensures warmth and convenience post-shower. A floating double vanity with wood cabinetry is paired with a modern LED backlit mirror and globe sconces for layered lighting. The result is a serene, spa-inspired retreat with smart, elevated details.

This expansive view highlights the spatial transformation achieved by removing the kitchen walls. The focus shifts from a purely functional kitchen to a cohesive great room anchored by a custom media wall and large-scale furnishings.

This front facing view highlights the kitchen’s balanced layout and open concept flow. A substantial marble waterfall island anchors the space, paired with three modern barstools that create an inviting setting for casual meals and conversation. Crisp white shaker cabinetry lines the perimeter, complemented by a full height marble backsplash and integrated stainless steel appliances. Warm wood flooring adds richness and contrast, while recessed lighting and textured glass pendants provide layered illumination.
