After those dramatic changes, the Klingels just couldn’t stop! Loving the contrast between the new black roof and stoop and their cream house, they painted their shutters black. And here’s where we come in – Annette wanted to incorporate her love of flowers into the new home design and found the perfect planters and window boxes to match the shutters. They purchased ten black window boxes in a classic and chic design to put around their outside windows. The Klingels also used tall black planters around the entrance to the house. The window boxes and planters each received the same plant treatment – red, yellow, and orange impatiens with flowing ferns for a bright punch of color. Paired with hanging baskets and a few other accents, the Klingels house is now a masterpiece.

The Klingels love their warm and inviting new front entrance, and the neighbors do too. Kathy Marshall DesignThe Commandants House in Charlestown Navy Yard. I was asked to design the kitchen for this historic house in Boston. My inspiration was a family style kitchen that was youthful and had a nod to it's historic past. The combination of wormy cherry wood custom cabinets, and painted white inset cabinets works well with the existing black and white floor. The island was a one of kind that I designed to be functional with a wooden butcher block and compost spot for prep, the other half a durable honed black granite. This island really works in this busy city kitchen.
British Association of Landscape IndustriesMembers involved in the creation of BALI’s Tatton Park show garden are celebrating the Silver-Gilt medal awarded to the garden today by the RHS judging panel. Months of planning by the garden’s designer, Belinda Belt, and the efforts of the team of BALI members who assisted with its construction, have finally paid off.
‘Vogue’ is a contemporary garden that was inspired by Belinda's passion for beautiful perfumes and fashion, and in particular the fashion designer Roberto Cavalli who was her muse during the design process.
"The design resembles the set of a fashion show, with a feature wall, stage, and a catwalk-style walkway through the centre of the garden created in chic paving" explains Belinda. "For the planting I have chosen six stunning semi-mature trees, under-planted with elegant grasses threaded through with perennials."
Belinda project managed the garden’s construction, which was undertaken by BALI contractors Greenbelt Landscapes with assistance from Butler Landscapes, Turf n Earth and students from Myerscough College, Preston.
BALI Affiliate members answered the call of the Association’s Sponsorship Officer, Diane McCulloch, and generously supplied the following products:
• London Stone - All natural stone used in the design, including the main stone feature - one huge piece, 100mm thick, weighing over a ton and 'stencilled' with a water-cut flower design;
• Crowders Nurseries - Plants and six semi-mature trees;
• Landscapeplus - Mood and accent lighting bringing the garden to life as dusk falls. The central stone feature is highlighted and the canopy of each tree accentuated with up-lighters;
• Gordon Low Products –Pond and aquatic materials;
• Green-tech – Compost and mulches;
• Kilsaran UK - Render products;
• IOTA Garden & Home - Two chic, black planted troughs;
• Johnsons of Whixley - Additional nursery stock;
• Lindum Turf - Exhibition turf and lawn turf for edging the complete garden.
'Vogue' was designed as an adult space in which to relax and unwind with nothing more than the sound of the trees and grasses swaying in the breeze. Requiring minimal maintenance, it is the perfect garden for busy professionals.

British Association of Landscape IndustriesMembers involved in the creation of BALI’s Tatton Park show garden are celebrating the Silver-Gilt medal awarded to the garden today by the RHS judging panel. Months of planning by the garden’s designer, Belinda Belt, and the efforts of the team of BALI members who assisted with its construction, have finally paid off.
‘Vogue’ is a contemporary garden that was inspired by Belinda's passion for beautiful perfumes and fashion, and in particular the fashion designer Roberto Cavalli who was her muse during the design process.
"The design resembles the set of a fashion show, with a feature wall, stage, and a catwalk-style walkway through the centre of the garden created in chic paving" explains Belinda. "For the planting I have chosen six stunning semi-mature trees, under-planted with elegant grasses threaded through with perennials."
Belinda project managed the garden’s construction, which was undertaken by BALI contractors Greenbelt Landscapes with assistance from Butler Landscapes, Turf n Earth and students from Myerscough College, Preston.
