It isn't usually a v groove. Usually a rabbit or tongue & groove

Candlestick clusters in the entry hall? Why not? Large candleholders like these add a very theatrical feeling. The message I'm getting is, "Grab a candlestick and come explore the castle with me!" But maybe I've just looked at one too many photos of candles.That said, don't overdo the candle thing. If you have a display like this one, candles elsewhere in the house should be very subtle or out of sight.
