I think they were custom made for the house. The designer is Martin Lawrence-Bullard

My daughter bought some exercise and beach balls of various diameters , some sisal twine , white Weldbond Liquid Glue . As she dragged the twine through the pan of glue , she applied it around and around the ball , overlapping as desired. . She left the ball inflated until the sisal string and glue was dry . She left 2 round openings for the lightbulb fixture and a hand reaching in , then found an electrician to assemble . She left hers the beige colour of the sisal ..but the orbs could be spray painted any colour inside a big box to prevent paint drifting onto other items. The more she did , the easier it got. And she saved herself $2000.

Yes, Martin did the whole house. This home is owned by Girls Gone Wild creator Joe Francis and is north of Puerto Vallarta.

MaterialsThis chevron fabric in ocean colors works perfectly with the woven lampshades and the rattan ceiling. Mix materials but try sticking to the same color palette for a consistent, contemporary look.

Play with mass and scale. The best way to amp up a shade is to give it a few brothers and sisters. This massive installation of large-scale lanterns complements and highlights the upholstery pattern and makes a solid artistic statement.

Wendy Shott added this to Book to Know: 'Rooms to Inspire by the Sea'May 12, 2012

Play with tropical elements. Using materials associated with tropical hideaways is an expedient way to bring the beach into your home. Here, wave-inspired upholstery, seashell decor and large blue and white globe lanterns playfully invoke elements of the sea in this Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, home. A thatched roof caps off the theme.Tip: A thatched roof may be hard to come by, so use a jute, raffia or sea-grass rug instead for a similar effect.
