This fixture is very similar to the Bolton lantern from Pottery Barn. I had it hung over our dinette table and it looked great there, also.

You would have to get someone to faux finish them. I've seen a roller for flat doors that give a grain but not sure it would work on a column. I've seen many faux finished columns.

This is a great porch! We plan to add a porch in VA and this is our inspiration! Thanks for taking the time to add information as we plan to emulate some of the colors/details of the ceiling and fireplace!

The lantern is by Carolina Lanterns. The wall sconces are their off the shelf "Charleston" lantern with a copper top. The chandelier is the same series but done in a custom rectilinear box style. They will customize with not a huge up charge. www.carolinalanterns.com. 843-881-4170 Jan Clouse is the owner. Mention my name.

The clients haven't had a problem with that. The fans are far enough away not to interfere. The ceilings are 9 feet tall.

It was sourced from a local fireplace store. You should be able to find one near you where they sell fireplaces.

We use the Screen Tite system. We have added blocking(wood) around the columns above. The column capital and base are the hardest to work around. Screen tite has a small profile system now and most carpenters can do a mock up for your approval. It does take some finesse.

What Houzz contributors are saying:

Kristy Woodson Harvey and Beth Woodson added this to Hanging Lanterns Cast Porches in the Right Light
If you aren't sure what size of lantern is right for your porch, use the same rule of thumb as for picking an indoor chandelier: Add the length and width of the space. The number of feet in the sum is roughly the number of inches your fixture should be. For example, a 12-by-15 porch would hold a 27-inch lantern.
Shane D. Inman added this to 8 Ways to Light Your Fireplace for Maximum Effect
Carriage lights. These lights are generally used on exteriors. Once used to light up horse-drawn carriages, they now add a traditional element and a heavy visual focal point. Design tip: Since they have a glass enclosure, carriage lights are great for outdoor spaces.Hire an outdoor lighting pro to give your home a welcoming glow
