Second Story AdditionTraditional Exterior, Chicago

This second story addition by Normandy Design Manager Troy Pavelka transformed a simple home into a charming cape cod design. By adding two dormer windows to the second story, Troy was able to boost curb appeal and visual interest for this traditional home.

The siding and roofing is traditional cedar shingles. The roofing is a hand split shingle, while the siding is not quite as heavy a material. Materials are found at the local lumber supplier - not manufactured.

I'm very sorry, but we do not have a record of the paint color used on this home.

The price of a major renovation can be affected by many variables. Geography, material selections, and existing structure conditions can have a significant influence on the cost. While I'm not at liberty to divulge the price our customers paid for their addition, I can direct you to a very helpful resource when looking for ballpark remodeling estimates.

Remodeling Magazine, an independent industry publication, creates their Cost vs. Value Report annually. This report allows you to filter by geography, project type, and finish level to find average prices for a variety of renovations. These numbers are a helpful starting point when you're in the early phases of budgeting for your project. You can read more about this report and find additional details here: I hope this proves to be useful for you.

The annual Cost vs. Value report is compiled with the input from Remodelers across the U.S. and is a useful tool for homeowners beginning their remodeling budgeting process.
