Here is the cable box. I would also like any other suggestions too. Tried to drill into the brick wall with a massive but but it wasn't practical.

One thing I'd be careful of, is the amount of heat coming off the fireplace, and rising up.
It gets pretty hot, and if you have problems, I imagine it would most definitely void your warranty.
Or worse case scenario, cause it to catch fire.
I advise people to either recess the screen, use a deep mantle above it, or best to do both !!

Michael, what color would you use to describe that fireplace? What is the base color? At first I thought it has some gray in the base. Now I believe it's base may be a brown.

    These are 6" recessed lights.
  • Danielle Easley
Thank. I love your work. Is 6" recessed lights generally what you would put throughout a house? I'm havin trouble deciding what size to put in my kitchen.

If the TV is recessed into the wall and there is a mantle above the fireplace (deflects fire heat from going straight up), you should be ok. The picture above is not a good idea if it a wood fireplace.

I agree with Media Decor, especially about a mantel shelf.

Usually there is very little convective heat (hot air) coming from a wood burning fireplace, so very little heat will rise from the fireplace opening. Practically all heat produce by this type of fireplace is radiant heat, which travels as sub-visible light in all directions into the room.

If you have conservative fires and only occasionally, it is unlikely that you will ever have a problem, even with the situation shown above. If you use the fireplace day and night continuously, there may be a problem, as radiant heat warms up the entire wall.

The worst case scenario is with an unvented gas fireplace, which produces almost nothing but convective heat. I've seem a TV melt over an unvented fireplace . . .

Linen White will be your best best for creamy, or you could use the trim color in this photo and project: Benjamin Moore-Mayonnaise.

Thank you so much for your help. I continue to follow your projects. Great ideas!

They were part of the builder's cabinetry package from Builder's Cabinet Supply in Chicago.

These chairs were originally in leather and matched the sofa from Restoration Hardware. I had them recovered in a Donghia fabric to add interest and a new material.

This carpet came from Rexx Rug in Chicago. It is a stock carpet meaning they purchase large quantities. They can get you the details.

This isn't terrible, again, maybe because there isn't a mantle.
