Sherry HartTraditional Living Room, Atlanta
What Houzz contributors are saying:
You can introduce large scale with a piece of furniture (remember my big antique secretary); an upholstered piece, like a sectional; or accessories, like this striking chandelier.
Small. Smaller living rooms offer the opportunity for bold style and cozy furniture layouts. A settee, used in lieu of a traditional sofa, sits perfectly in the middle of this room. Combined with two armless chairs, it provides plenty of seating for just the right amount of guests. I love how the bench behind the settee can provide additional seating, too.See settees for every room and style
I am a successful, urban woman with no children, and I can mix a martini. Once a month I host a women's book group at my house.
EW: The living room is quite modest given the overall size of the home. Was this done to preserve the integrity of the house? SH: Yes, the living room maintained its original proportions with its focus on the exquisite fireplace and mantel. Furniture is centered around a candlelit iron chandelier by Visual Comfort. Aside from its intimacy, one of my favorite things about this room is the view into the neighboring sunroom.
