This lovely home sits in one of the most pristine and preserved places in the country - Palmetto Bluff, in Bluffton, SC. The natural beauty and richness of this area create an exceptional place to call home or to visit. The house lies along the river and fits in perfectly with its surroundings.

This rustic exterior leads to a modern interior with all the bells and whistles. Antique timber veneers, Backwood Bark and reclaimed Mountianwood grace the exterior of the home, while reclaimed Legacy Red Oak floors, reclaimed brick and other design elements carry out the theme of comfort and elegance through to the inside of the home. The stunning hallway of glass incased by our reclaimed timbers are mirrored to match on the interior and exterior of the home. Through the use of reclaimed and natural materials provided by Appalachian Antique Hardwoods, the home blends perfectly with the woods that surround it. Photo by Kevin Meechan.

I'm really just trying to demonstrate that the sidelights and transom would be great at the backdoor entry into the mudroom. If possible, we could re-use the existing back door. - ianbmartin2561

3. Add Glass Doors Our original front door had sidelights with amber glass in that bottle-bottom pattern so popular in the ‘70s. Our house faced north, so our entry was dim and dark. It led into our windowless dining room, which flowed into the kitchen. Standing at the island in our brand-new kitchen, that dark entry was my view. Ugh. We installed a solid wood 15-pane glass door with matching five-pane sidelights. - k_rudito
The client admired this Victorian home from afar for many years before purchasing it. The extensive rehabilitation restored much of the house to its original style and grandeur; interior spaces were transformed in function while respecting the elaborate details of the era. A new kitchen, breakfast area, study and baths make the home fully functional and comfortably livable.

Even the utility entrance of the Schneider home offers a warm welcome, as guests are brought in by way of a stone path and stacked split-faced steps. An unassuming neutral palette is enhanced with Ipe decking and weathered fixtures.
Ipe, a Braziian hardwood, is ideal for outdoor applications, lasting 25-40 years without treatment. As Gayle explains, "It is lower maintenance if you let it age naturally, like teak or cedar, but we've chosen to seal it yearly to highlight and retain more of the deeper, richer color."

The timber-framed stone pool house with kitchen and full bath provides year round activity and entertainment, features a six-foot masonry fireplace, and visually connects to a timber-framed barn accessory structure. Mounted above the stone fireplace designed by Purple Cherry Architects, are Indonesian Medan masks. The unique African sculpture in the right corner was crafted from a hollowed tree trunk and uses natural materials to create the facial features. This indoor pool is truly a stunning space.

Love the interior of this house. The clean lines, the foyer, closet. Rather have bigger tiles, but the color is nice. Noth sure about the kitchen though - arivsiba
