This is the photo that got me busy writing this ideabook. I had never before seen a glass-sided bathtub, and this one completely appeals to my minimalist tendencies. The architect, David Stern, says the client wanted this custom made tub for the kids bathroom and wanted it to feel fresh and fun. Well, he succeeded. But here is what I want to know: Why should the kids have all the fun? I have a rubber ducky. Don’t you? Doesn’t everybody?Hire an expert bathroom designer to get your dream tub

This amazing bathtub (which we originally fell in love with in this ideabook) was installed in the children's bathroom. Its beautiful and simple structure was achieved by wedging a thick glass sheet between two tile walls. The idea came from the clients, who were inspired by a photo that they had saved from an old magazine. "We love detail, so there are always special moments in our projects," says Stern. "And in this house, the glass-front bathtub was one of those moments."

Confirm charges for parts. Most plumbers keep basic parts and supplies on hand, but sometimes they have to buy specialty items after starting the work. Be sure you know what the markup is and how you'll be charged. The plumber may ask that you choose and purchase decorative items such as faucets in advance, with his or her input about specs. That way, you can ensure the look you want and avoid time-consuming exchanges.Be clear on who cleans up. A good plumber will never leave you with a sloppy work area. However, if the project necessitates prying out tile, pulling off baseboards or other structural damage, not all plumbers can or will make those repairs. Ask beforehand whether this is the case, and plan accordingly.

Glass. Take your bathroom to a whole new level with a low glass panel that contains the water. Tiled floors and walls and a secure glass installation make it completely waterproof and surprisingly sturdy.See more of this house
