Were you able to get the pedestal reconfigured to bar height? We want to do the same thing and have 2 separate pieces of granite but would like to see how this would look?

  • PRO
    The Woodshop of Avon

Yes it can be made for bar height.
You can email me at leah@thewoodshopofavon.com

It is soapstone. You would need some additional support perhaps a plywood (painted) floor directly under the granite.

I tried to email to get contact # on a supplier of the pedestal under the table.
who can I contact? thank you,

Do you have a photograph of the underside of the table with any corbuls? Trying to figure out how big my corbuls need to be for a 52" diameter granite top. Thanks!

    The Woodshop of Avon

    Hi Hilarie,

I unfortunately do not have any pictures of the underside of the table. But I can let you know, there are no "Corbuls". The 3" green apron you see directly under the granite countertop is what is supporting it. If you'd like more information, please feel free to email me at kellee@thewoodshopofavon.com. Thank you!

Sherwin Williams Intellectual Gray is also similar ~ a greenish gray if I might say. My cabinets are almost the same as this island color.

Hello! My husband and I are hoping to do this same layout in our kitchen Island and I have a few questions for you. At the radius part of the island, how did they miter the slab? is it a laminate edge at the radius? Is there additional strapping to support the radius pedestal slab portion? Thanks in advance!

Technically there are 5 major parts to create this island; (1) the cabinet bases (2) the decorative legs you see in this picture (3) the apron under the round top (4) the pedestal leg under the round top & (5) the counter top. If you would like more detail in how to recreate this, please email me at kellee@thewoodshopofavon.com and I'd be happy to help!

  • awesterh

Yes, I would love to recreate this island. Decorative legs, the apron under the round top & the pedestal leg under the counter top

    thanks, Anne

So much depends on what is happening in the room and also adjoining rooms. I prefer to keep one a less "patterned" stone

check out what this guy did with his kitchen. He has two different kinds of granite and it looks amazing.

You are correct ddem! :) The ceiling was a custom installation of beams and beadboard panels.

I would love to help. The unfortunate part is this project was done a couple of years ago and the colors of natural stone change. Soapstone generally only comes in 4 - 6 different color options. The counter top on this island is mostly black with some gray accents. I believe the best way to go about duplicating this Soapstone, is to find a local Soapstone supplier. They should be able to show you the current colors Soapstone offers and will be able to direct you in the option closest to this picture.

Hi Roberta, thank you for your interest! The total space this particular island requires is about a 50" x 110" rectangle. You can however reduce the radius of the table portion and the length of the cabinetry side to fit into your space. If you would like a quote, please email me at kellee@thewoodshopofavon.com. Thank you!

Thank you for the question. The overall length of the island counter top is 108". The width of the counter top at the rectangular end is 33" and the diameter of the rounded counter top is 49". I hope this helps. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to email me at kellee@thewoodshopofavon.com.

Alot depends on the material. If it is unfinished paintable product the cost is approximateley $750.00

The base and apron were custom made at our shop. The idea of an existing table would depend on the strength of the base for support. Your stone fabricator might be able to help you with that question.
    Thanks for the interest!
