The layout of this mudroom is long and narrow and divided in half by a doorway. A locker system with 5 individual cubbies, open shelving and drawers holds the families immediate outdoor wear accessories. The cabinets are finished in white melamine and include corner radius shelving, chrome hardware, square raised panel door fronts and large continuous crown molding. The opposite wall has the washer and dryer with cabinets for laundry essentials. There is also a closet for long hang items and mop/broom storage. A simple front facade consisting solely of ten-foot shuttered French doors radiates elegance in this new traditional foursquare home in Washington, D.C. Featured in Country Living magazine, the airy plan offers spaciousness in a limited-fronted site of the American foursquare house. The goal for the design was creating a contemporary foursquare style house. The family room and kitchen of this American foursquare interior are separated by a glassy built-in rather than walls, encouraging visual connection between the spaces in the four square house. Though nestled in the city, this American foursquare home feels like a classic country home.

Once an empty vast foyer, this busy family of five needed a space that suited their needs. As the primary entrance to the home for both the family and guests, the update needed to serve a variety of functions. Easy and organized drop zones for kids. Hidden coat storage. Bench seat for taking shoes on and off; but also a lovely and inviting space when entertaining.

A young family sought their forever home where they would grow together and create lasting memories. Designing this custom home on a spacious 4.5-acre waterfront lot provided the perfect setting to create an openness with spaces where every member of the family could enjoy. The primary goal was to maximize the lake views with separate special spaces for various uses and activities, yet with an open concept for connection between rooms. They wanted a home that would stand the test of time and grow with the family. Traditional with a classic sensibility lead the design theme. A happy color palette of soft toned colors in blues, pinks, and turquoise - with a nod to lake living through patterns, and natural elements - provides a lived in and welcoming sense. It’s eclectic flair of polished sparkle finds balanced with rustic detailing that gives it a curated presentation with classic styling for the sense of a home that has always been there.
