I looked on the website for the rug but couldn't find it online. Do you know the name of the rug?

If we were to use BM Old Navy as the accent wall behind the bed in a smaller room in our beach house, would you pair it with white or ivory on the other 3 walls? I love the crispness this room has!

I guess it would depend on the elements and furnishings in your room. Are the floors white washed or covered in flat weave rugs? What is the bed (headboard) is it a small room? What texture is on the walls?

Difficulty lies in the walls. If the wall is engineered so that it can handle punching a hole through it and adding a the window it could be fairly easy. Call upon a local craftsman that can give you some advice, as you will need some clarification as to what is behind those walls.

Not sure if this question is still relevant...a lot of the flow depends on the breaks in your rooms...if the transitions don't seem to be a natural break I think it can look very segmented when you throw in colors for each room or hallway. But I definitely think you should have the artistic choice to have different colors throughout other rooms.

The finish is a custom mix to create the ebonized look. We used tongue and groove, nail in place oak planks.

As for your question about dark floor and ceiling in a small space; if you have enough natural light to saturate the space I think you can create some great interest with lighter trim and built-ins. If you don't have much natural light in the space then you'll be creating a much more enveloping space which can read really warm and cozy.

What Houzz contributors are saying:

Samantha Schoech added this to Color Guide: How to Use Navy BlueSep 4, 2012

A navy accent wall in a very light room adds depth. You don't even have to look out the window to tell that this room is near the water. The color combo and striped window shades tell the whole story.

Rebecca Heane added this to Elements of Classic Coastal StyleJul 20, 2012

Window coverings Roman blinds always look smart. I often have them made with a mitered border to add definition — try matching the borders with the paint color of your walls. This deep indigo instantly says classic coastal.

Natalie Myers added this to Celebrate the Season With the Colors of HanukkahNov 28, 2011

In a white room, even just one accent wall of deep blue does the trick. The chrome (silver-tinted) sawhorse legs bring surprise and class to a simply designed office.

Scheer & Co. Interior Design added this to Straight From the Runway: The Blues to Use at HomeSep 18, 2011

Blue and brown. So, clearly I love how blue combines with other colors, but nothing says "sophisticated preppy chic" like blue and neutrals, like saddle leather brown. It's no surprise that the preppy powerhouse, J. Crew nails the combo. So does Garrison Hullinger. It's no doubt that this sunny room would have been lovely without it, but the tufted leather chair adds dimension and a sense of history. Becky Harris added this to Update That Beachy Style!May 7, 2011

This room looks like the designer deconstructed a Navy dress uniform and replaced the brass buttons with inspection-ready polished nickel. Instead of using busier navy and white prints, this room makes a big statement with the dark navy wall, a polished sawhorse desk, and a porthole window.

Kerrie Kelly Design Lab added this to Get the Look: Ralph LaurenFeb 12, 2011

The nautical look with Ralph Lauren's Writer's Chair captures the tranquil elegance of the sea with an artful mix of chic and rustic elements with a strong shade of Ralph Lauren blue.

Becky Harris added this to Organizing the Office: Inspiring Shelves and CabinetsJan 10, 2011

If you're really rocking out a renovation, consult with a cabinetmaker to design the best unit for what you need to store. Again, measure the depth of your books and binders so that you can scale them accordingly.

Becky Harris added this to Ten Great Sawhorse TablesNov 29, 2010

While it can be the most inexpensive way to make a table in the world, the high-end market has caught on to the sexy legs of the sawhorse table. They are even more attractive when they are chrome!
