Yes, this is most likely a slab, however, there are new thin slab porcelain sheets that sell for a fraction of the cost and are just as beautiful. Look and see for yourself.

I see one seam through the middle so it is definitely a slab and it looks like it is Carrara White Marble - one of the most iconic colors out there. Like Northwest Tile & Floors mentioned, there are some great Porcelain tiles out there that have an uncanny resemblance to the actual marble.

I would not recommend they be used as a seat.

The corner seat was fabricated out of the marble slabs.

With a marble in a shower, you have to use specific stone cleaners to clean the stone- no harsh acid based cleaners. In a shower that is used every day, I would recommend sealing it yearly to be safe. If you have well water, in general the white marble is not a great idea unless you have a really good water softener. We also can recommend stone restoration companies that also offer cleaning of stones if you want a deeper clean done. Getchen Dorer - Dwyer Marble and Stone, Farmington Hills, Mi.
