Houzz Continues its Global Expansion Across Europe, into Asia

Houzz (www.houzz.com), the leading platform for home remodeling and design, today announced its expansion to the rest of Europe and into Asia, starting with Japan, given the enormous demand for its platform and the success of its first international launches in the UK, Australia, Germany and France. Houzz has doubled its community of homeowners, renters and home professionals in each of these initial markets since launching this summer and fall, and will soon integrate its three revenue channels outside of North America. Together with the UK, Australia, France and Germany, a localized site, app and experience will be available for 15 markets outside of the U.S. next year.

“Houzz is transforming the home renovation and design process around the world,” said Adi Tatarko, Houzz cofounder and CEO. “We’re eliminating the barriers that exist between homeowners and good design, and between talented home improvement professionals and their potential customers, wherever they might be. Houzz created a global design language and we’re excited to connect the local communities around the world to create an even better user experience.”

Since it was founded as a side project in 2009, Houzz has grown organically to over 25 million monthly unique users and more than 600,000 active home improvement professionals from architects, designers, contractors and more, over 35 percent of whom now come from outside the U.S. Home professionals are using Houzz as a critical business tool to interact with clients, prospective clients, and other home building, remodeling and design professionals locally and around the world.

“Over a third of all our referral traffic comes from Houzz,” said Brett Robinson of COS Design in Melbourne, Australia. “We currently have a project from Houzz in America with inquiries coming from as far and wide as Greece, Lithuania and China. Our company’s global reach has only become possible through Houzz.”

For consumers, Houzz provides an end-to-end resource for designing and renovating their home where they can find inspiration, get advice from the largest home community on the web, collaborate with others involved in the process, research and hire professionals, buy products, and manage home projects from start to finish.

Houzz has more than doubled its team to 400 employees since January 2014, 20 percent of whom are now based outside the U.S.
