How to Use Draft Project Items

Draft project items allow you save products that you're considering using for a project without any commitment — perfect to start ideating and compiling potential products before you even begin the planning phase. We'll show you multiple ways to add items to your project from the get-go, so that when you're ready to build a mood board, selection board or estimate/proposal, you can quickly pick from items already collected with said project in mind.

How do draft products work? You'll assign items to a project using one of the methods below, then those items will be available within My Items across the project, under the In this Project section, ready for you to add with just one click.

Assigning Draft Items Directly to a Project

From Your Product Library

In your My Items library, you can add draft products to a project by selecting the checkmarks to the left of the desired items, then clicking the "Assign to Project" option in the top right of the page.

From Clipper

Another convenient way to add products is to clip them directly into your projects — simply make sure the Project is selected when clipping a product. Once you do clip an item to a project, these products will be available both in the project itself (as draft items) and in your product library, allowing you to add the clipped products to additional projects later on.

From Selections Tracker

You can also add draft items directly in the Selections Tracker. To do so, open the project, navigate to the Selections Tracker and click My Items in the right panel. This opens your product library, where you can either choose Create Item to manually add a new one, or select an existing item from In My Library.

Once added, draft project items are given a document status of "Draft" making it easy for you to distinguish between products in process (already added to a document) and draft items. By default, draft project items are visible in your tracker, but can be filtered out by using the filter dropdown.

Updating Draft Items in the Selections Tracker

Whether you're adding draft items into your project through the Selections Tracker, Clipper, or another method, you can use the 360° item views to update their details right in the tracker. Simply click on the 'i' icon to the far left of an item and edit all the relevant details, including quantity, purchasing price, etc. You can also delete a draft item from the tracker if you no longer need it in your project — just click the trashcan icon to the left.

Using Draft Items in Tools and Documents

Once you've assigned draft items to a project, using them in design and selection tools or financial documents is easy. Let's take a look:

In Financial Documents

Within a new document, like an estimate/proposal or invoice, click My Items to access your library. Locate the In this Project section and you'll find all of your draft products that you've manually assigned or clipped to the current project but have yet to be added to any documents. Click on an item to add it to the document. Once added to a document, the item will no longer be considered a draft item, and instead will be referred to as in process.

In Mood Boards

Within a mood board, click My Items from the right panel. Locate the In this Project section and you'll find all of your draft products added to that particular project.

In Selection Boards

Within a selections board, click My Items from the right panel. Instead of seeing an In this Project section, you find items organized by rooms. Locate the Not in Any Room section and you'll see your draft items here, available to add to the board.
