How to Add Ceilings to Your 3D Floor Plan

When it comes to creating your 3D floor plan, every detail matters. With your Houzz Pro account, you can now add ceilings to your 3D design to better bring your vision for your client's space to life.

This tutorial will guide you through the simple steps to create stunning ceilings within the 3D Floor Planner.

Create Ceilings in the 3D Floor Planner

To add a ceiling to your design, open up your relevant 3D floor plan. In the toolbar on the right side of your screen, click on Ceilings, then select Edit Ceilings.

Click on the room you would like to edit in your 3D floor plan. You can then select the ceiling type from the menu on the right. Options include Flat, Shed, Cathedral or None.

Once you select the relevant ceiling type, you can then edit the rest of the ceiling details.

You can easily adjust the height of the ceiling. If you select Flat, there will only be a base height. If you select Shed or Cathedral, there will be both a base height and a peak height. The base height is for the lowest height of the ceiling, while the peak height is for the highest part of the ceiling.

You can adjust the color of the ceiling by selecting a paint color from an extensive list of choices.

For Shed and Cathedral ceilings, you can also select Rotate Peak to adjust the peak design based on what's needed for the structure of the room.

Once complete, click Done.

Go into Dollhouse or Walkthrough mode to preview your ceiling details.
