How to Import Your Leads

With Houzz Pro you have the ability to import leads from a file, from your email, or by integrating with Zapier, saving you precious time that can be put towards winning said leads. Learn how to add leads from a list, email or Zapier with the steps below:

Import Leads From a File

Already have a running list of leads outside of Houzz Pro? Seamlessly transfer them over in a single file to take advantage of our lead management tools. Here's how:

1. Navigate to the Leads section from the left navigation, then select Import From File under the Add Leads button in the top right.

2. Click "Download Leads Import Template" to download a .zip file with both Excel and CSV formats — choose the file type that works best for you.

Note: For leads from Buildertrend or HubSpot, you can upload the CSV or Excel file they provided to automatically import them.

3. Open the template in your preferred file type and input your lead data into the appropriate fields, or copy the template formatting on your own file to match.

Follow these tips for a successful import:

  • List only one lead per row
  • Every lead must have a Lead Name
  • Avoid duplicate entries

4. Save the completed CSV or Excel file.

5. In the import screen, click "browse" and attach the file, or drag and drop the file into the box. If successful, you will see a message noting how many lines the system detected in your file. Click Next to start mapping your files columns to Houzz Pro fields.

6. Review the mappings to ensure your columns align with the correct Houzz Pro fields. Only the columns you map will be imported; you can choose Ignore in the dropdown to skip importing certain columns. Click Next when you are finished mapping.

7. Review the import and check for accuracy. If there are any errors in your import list they will be highlighted here. You can continue to import the rest of the leads and will be able to download a list of skipped leads later so that you can correct the issues and retry. Click Import to add the leads to your account, or Previous to go back and make changes to the mapping.

8. If your file was imported successfully, you will see a confirmation of how many records were successful. Click Done to return to your Leads page.

Note that if some entries fail to upload, the remaining entries that succeed will still be successfully uploaded. If there were any errors in the import, you will be notified of the exact errors so you can fix and re-upload them. See "Upload Errors and How to Fix Them" below for more details.

In the leads list, you can see the main details for each lead. To edit a lead's details, click the lead name or use the three dots to the far right of their details to access more options.

Upload Errors and How to Fix Them

If some entries within your file fail to upload, the remaining entries that succeed will still be successfully uploaded to your Leads list. In Step 4 of 4, if any errors occur, you will see how many entries/records failed and what the errors are. You then have the ability to download the skipped records, fix them and re-upload again.

Upload Errors:

  • Missing Lead Name: Every lead is required to have a Lead Name in order to be uploaded.
  • Invalid Email: Check to make sure email addresses are complete and include name@domain.com, for example.
