A Guide to the Different Types of Houzz Leads
Recognizing where your leads come from can help you improve your business insights. In this article, we’ll discuss each Houzz lead type, including what it is and how homeowners find you that way.
The lead types in Houzz Pro include:
- Project Match
- Direct Message
- Phone Call
- My Website
- Other Houzz Sources

Project Match
Houzz Project Match leads occur when homeowners fill out an online questionnaire about their project through the Houzz website, and Houzz matches them with up to 6 pros. If you’re one of the matched pros, you’ll be notified of the new lead and can follow up with the homeowner.
Homeowners typically find Project Match at the top of the Find Professionals page as they are searching for pros in their area. They can enter the relevant service or project in the search bar and then answer related questions to provide more details.

Direct Message
Direct Message leads occur when homeowners write to you by clicking the Send Message button on your Houzz directory listing or profile.
These homeowners are generally very likely to respond to your follow up because they chose to write to you based on what they saw in your listing or profile.

Phone Call
Phone call leads occur when homeowners find your phone number under the Business Details on your Houzz profile and give you a call.
You can easily follow up with these homeowners directly through Houzz, by using the convenient Click-to-Call feature. This lets you simply click on the homeowner’s phone number to call them back, and the call will be automatically documented for your records, including any notes you took during the call.
Make sure to ask the homeowner if they got your phone number from Houzz so you can mark it accurately for your Lead Insights.

My Website
My Website leads occur when homeowners contact you through your Houzz-hosted website, which is included in your Houzz Pro Ultimate or Essential subscription.
These homeowners decided to contact you after seeing your website, so they are likely interested in what you do. When you follow up with these homeowners, we suggest referring to your website so they remember why they contacted you. This allows you to build a more personalized relationship with them.

Other Houzz Sources
Other Houzz Sources leads include leads that come from a variety of other ways homeowners find you from Houzz. For example, this lead type includes leads coming from the leads pool.
