New in Houzz Pro: Design Outdoor Spaces in 3D
Now you can include decks, lawns, and other outdoor elements in your 3D floor plans

Houzz Pro's 3D Floor Planner has already been helping pros win more work and wow their clients. This feature of Houzz Pro’s all-in-one software lets you create three-dimensional floor plans to share with clients; using Life-size Walkthroughs on the mobile app, you can even take clients on an immersive tour of your new design right in their current space.
Now we’ve expanded the feature so you can add structures such as patios, decks and driveways, along with hardscaping and softscaping. We’ve built up the materials library with ground cover such as lawn, gravel, deck composite, pavement and even mulch, with different colors to choose from.
“Expanding the Houzz Pro 3D Floor Planner to support outdoor spaces was a natural progression of the tool and a top request from current pro users,” Houzz cofounder and president Alon Cohen says. “Homeowners are prioritizing outdoor living and benefit from having robust visuals of finished spaces.”

Shows Indoor-Outdoor Flow
The tool lets you show clients how your design flows from the interior of their home to its exterior. And you can use it with 2D floor plans as well as 3D. You can convey the size, layout and design of the outdoor area, and subdivide the space using different surface materials, such as paved areas adjacent to lawn or decking. While plants and trees are not currently available, you can bring the design to life with details such as pergolas, swimming pools and fire pits, as well as outdoor furnishings such as tables, chairs and umbrellas from the Houzz Shop.
And if you want to show outdoor areas for a second or third story of the home, you can create a separate design for each story with its own outdoor space.
Easy and Cost-Effective
“The Houzz Pro 3D Floor Plan tool is easy to learn and cost-effective to use, making 3D visualizations more accessible to pros and their clients,” Cohen says. Using the outdoor surfaces features is as easy as creating walls in the 3D Floor Planner. To define your space, just click the tree icon next to the wall drawing tool and draw an enclosed space in a rectangle or any other enclosed shape. Then you can divide it with additional lines, add surface materials from the library, and adjust settings such as rotation, grade and plank size. Need more detailed instruction?
