The Houzz Pro Experience for Interior Designers Just Got Better

Here at Houzz Pro, we are always seeking ways to enhance the experience for our interior design pros, and help you streamline the work you do every day. In that spirit, we present the latest changes to our Houzz Pro interior design software. We couldn’t have done it without you. Many of the new features are based on conversations with our pro community and the insightful feedback you have provided.

A Renovated Experience

This update is designed to make Houzz Pro even easier for you to use, including intuitive menus, expanded workspace, and a project-centric approach.We’ve also updated the design of Houzz Pro to be clean and fresh and are using the original green logo.

Get Updated If you still see the blue Houzz Pro logo at the top of this page, you can get this update by selecting “Update Now” at the top right of your home screen. Dive Deeper

Room Planner Renamed to “Selections”

  • Name change Through collaboration with you, our pro community, we found the more fitting name of ‘Selections.’ This nomenclature captures the essence of the feature and accurately mirrors how our interior designers use it to curate choices for their clients that result in selections.
  • Project Tracker relocated within Selections. Just navigate to ‘Selections’ and choose the ‘Tracker’ view. What is the Houzz Pro Tracker? It is a central hub where you can access the details and status of all the products and services that make up your project. You can customize the tracker, add, remove and customize columns. The Tracker also provides you the flexibility to export the details in a variety of formats such as PDF, Excel or Tear Sheets. 

Documents Work Harder

Here are some changes we’ve made to make Documents them work harder for you:

  • Updated Editing Options We heard you! We have added the highly requested “undo” and “redo” editing options to documents. That means it’s easy to back up a few steps.
  • Combine Purchase Orders Merge multiple purchase orders into a single one in just a few steps. Read more.

Merge Proposals & Invoices Too You can also combine multiple invoices into a single invoice to simplify how your clients review and pay for projects. Same goes for proposals!  See how.

Floor Planner Does More

This is where your clients’ dreams come alive, and we’ve enhanced the experience inside and out with these new capabilities:

  • 3D Floor Plan Commenting Collaboration is the key to moving forward and keeping everyone on the same page. In the 3D Floor Planner, both your team and clients can leave comments on objects, walls. Collaborate with your clients by leaving comments on the plan that they can view and respond to.  Check out how.
  • Multi-Room Scans Measure a whole apartment or floor in no time by scanning room-to-room with your mobile phone. Then, easily merge all the spaces into a single floor plan. . Get Started! 
  • Outdoor 3D Spaces  Take to the great outdoors with the 3D Floor Planner’s outdoor additions. Decks, patios, lawns and driveways are at your fingertips, all easily added to your 3D plans with our expanded library of pavers, ground cover, lawn, gravel, decking, and more. You can add outdoor furnishings too. Learn all about it.  

Add Ceilings You can now incorporate your ceiling design vision into your 3D Floor Plans to bring every detail to life for your clients.

Polish Your Mood Boards

  • Mood Board Templates You don’t have to start from scratch every time. Create a mood board template to automatically add your branding, footers, cover slides, and more. Save it for the future, and easily edit as needed.  Explore more.
  • Manual Background Removal Our new brush tool lets you automatically erase any image’s background or you have the option of manually editing them. Erase away!
  • Keyboard Shortcuts Take the faster route with our new keyboard shortcuts. Hold down ⇧ to select and move multiple elements seamlessly. Quickly undo what you’ve done with ⌘/Ctrl + Z.  Zoom in or out effortlessly with ⌃-⌘-scroll/Ctrl-Alt-scroll. Find more shortcuts.

Better Quickbooks Integration 

Quickbooks Online and Houzz Pro work hand in hand more seamlessly than ever with these changes:

  • New Sync Dashboard With the new Quickbooks sync dashboard, look through all your documents, check the sync status, manually sync, and better understand any syncing errors and how to fix them. Learn more here.
  • Automatic Sync Triggers: Invoices now automatically sync with QuickBooks Online when sent to a client or when a payment is recorded, using the created date as the document date.
  • Issuing an invoice also triggers the sync and allows pros to lock it—an accounting best practice to block further edits.
  • New Sync Indicators: We have added an indicator that allows you to effortlessly check the sync status on documents. Clicking the indicator provides details on the sync date and a direct link to the document in QuickBooks.
  • More Control over the Sync Process:
  1. Create “Bill Only” When Recording a Payment on a Purchase Order: When recording a payment on a purchase order, you can create “a bill and a bill payment” or “a bill only” in QuickBooks Online. The option to “create a bill and a bill payment” will be selected by default.
  2. Sync Proposal payments as unapplied payments: You have the ability to sync payments on retainers and proposals as unapplied payments in Quickbooks Online. Head over to your Settings page to select your preferred sync logic.
  3. Control whether or not you want purchase orders to appear in QuickBooks Online from your settings page. You can also disable the sync for specific documents directly from your Sync Dashboard.
  • More Flexibility for Easier Bookkeeping: If you need to send a proposal or an invoice a few months after you started the draft, you can now update the Created Date to reflect the current date.

Time & Expense Ease

  • Time & Expense Invoicing We know how busy you are. It’s not always possible to finish a task in one sitting. Now, you can add time and expense entries to an existing invoice as long as it is still in ‘Edit’ mode. Show me how.

Make Schedules Faster 

Our Schedule feature helps you keep your projects running on time while keeping everyone in the loop every step along the way. Here’s what’s new:

  • Improved Schedule Assign out items and tasks, smoothly toggle between Gantt, calendar, and list view, and do it all from anywhere through your Houzz Pro mobile app. Find out more.
  • Reorder Schedule Phases Not everything works out as planned. Need to make a change? No problem — swap the order of the scheduled phases of your project with drag-and-drop simplicity. Check it out.  
  • Create Schedules Faster Making those project schedules is now faster than ever. Just save your Schedule as a custom template and quickly apply phases, items, and dependencies to your design project. Quick guide.

Check out this additional collection of improvements we made to optimize your experience and efficiency for every project, every day:

  • Bulk File Permissions There’s plenty you can do with your files. And now, you can manage access permissions for clients, subcontractors, and teammates - on multiple  files - all at once. You do this through the project ‘Files & Photos’ section. More file fun.
  • Customized Notifications Control what you want to be notified about when there’s activity in your projects, and how. Instantly, daily digest, and mobile push notification are among your options. Check it out.
  • Assigned Project Codes Creating new documents auto-populates their project codes, which speeds up the process of searching for project-related documents.
  • Save Report View There’s no need to generate reports from scratch every month. Adjust filters, sorting order, and other settings, then save your custom report view for easy access next time around. Read more.
  • Better Team Collaboration
