John was recommended to us by Stacy at A Mindful Method (home organizers) to reinvent and rebuild our pantry space. The space itself is pretty small, but John had a vision and his passion for the work really shone through. We found ourselves trusting him wholly and following all of his recommendations (though some we followed reluctantly and it turned out to be our favorite parts — get the lights. GET THE LIGHTS!). He is incredibly thorough and detailed with his drawings. He showed up bright and early at 8am and then - due to our 100+ year old home being cattywampus, he worked diligently until 8pm. I don't know who felt worse — us for giving him this challenge of a home or him for working late. I don't know how he made it work, but the cabinets look BEAUTIFUL and no one would ever be able to tell that the walls are slanted and angled. The entire pantry build out is a dream come true and probably our favorite room in the whole house. His vision and hard work is unparalleled. We are already thinking about what other spaces we can have him come back to work on!

Exceptional experience and product!!! John was honest, friendly and easy to work with and guided us through all the great options for layout, color, and hardware. And then we were able to see how our personalized “His and Hers” closets were going to look using his CAD program!!! Doesn’t get any better!!!

I still am in awe of our master closet. John is incredible. The initial consult was fantastic. We were able to customize our closet and he could show us in real time on his computer what it would look like. Let me tell you, the in person version is incredible. We just finished building a custom home. John did a spectacular job designing all our closet spaces for us. The master bedroom closet, in particular, met and exceeded our expectations. We built a large multi-family new home in 2021. My husband and I were downsizing and wanted to maximize the space in our main closets and one pantry. I contacted John Plake. I cannot say enough about his wonderful designs and creative solutions including lighting in our pantry. We initially had John install eight closets, a mud room and one pantry. Once our builder saw the work he did, they did not want to install their standard wire shelving as they thought we may not be satisfied. John came to our rescue and designed and installed five more closets, another pantry and shelving in our laundry room. Everything he did for us is of high quality and installed to perfection. He and his team are hard working and meticulous. He is now designing a media center and a storage area for our sewing room. Call John if you want someone who takes pride in the service and work he does!

First and foremost, John is an extremely pleasant person to deal with, and do business with. Having someone working in your home can be stressful, but John is welcomed guest any time. Our hunt for a closet for our master originally had us looking at container store, they worked entirely over email, awful communication and so expensive for anything but wire with fake wood fronts. John came to our home and designed our dream closet, all for a much better price then any of the big box stores. If you want quality craftsmanship, good vibes, and and feel confident that you got the best solution for your dollar, John is your guy. Honestly can’t recommend him enough, actually John if your reading this, we need to do something in our laundry room and we should talk. John Plake redesigned and built 3 closets for our home and added to our garage coat area. We truly cannot say enough about his talent and congeniality. The work is impeccable and the materials high quality. We highly recommend him.

John worked miracles in the small space of my walk-in closet! I couldn't be happier. In my last house, he created a beautiful pantry and a wonderful and efficient workshop. Just the best at what he does!

John Plake was recommended to us from a neighbor who is extremely satisfied with his work. We can now add ourselves as also being extremely satisfied. We hired John to design our walk-in closet, entryway closet, and turn our pantry into a large appliance garage. We are thrilled with the results of all three. We gave him an overview of what we were trying to achieve for each of the spaces, and he provided us with a choice of designs. By the way, listen to him when he suggests hardware, or anything for that matter, he knows his stuff! Rob and Joyce did the installations and they are fantastic to work with. My husband was particularly impressed that all three installations were completed on the same day. Besides being beautiful, we're excited in the increased storage! For example, once we put our clothes and shoes back into the walk-in closet, which had previously filled the closet to capacity, we were now able to include our seasonal shoes and clothes, plus we we transferred our pants and sweaters from our dresser, and we still have several shelves that are empty! We are still unpacking from our move, so we're sure we'll be able to fill them up. We are so pleased with the results that we have asked John to design a floor to ceiling/wall-to-wall cabinet for our office, and to improve the existing guest closet and linen closet. We highly recommend John Plake to anyone looking for storage solutions.

We can not say enough about John Plake and his helpers. John is fabulous at coming up with wonderful designs and solutions to every kind of storage problem! He is efficient, timely, fun and brilliant! His cabinets at our home have made SUCH a difference! He built cabinets and storage in almost every room, and the two garages as well. He helped us with colors too and made some great suggestions about lighting and cool ways to hang things like brooms etc. He noticed that my honey has all kind of motorcycle clothes so he made a closet in the garage just for those! His idea! And he made me a hidden litter box for my kitty, also his idea! Our lives are so much more organized and everything is so much neater and easier to find! The cabinets are very high quality and look great. And, if there is even a tiny blemish on one, he gets a replacement! He and his team saved my sanity!!!

We had an amazing experience with John and Home Storage Solutions. John did such a great job showing us the different finishes and colors and provided a ton of feedback on how to design both our master closet and our son's closet. One area I was so impressed with was when we discussed what should hang vs what should be on shelves and he took the time to look at my long dresses and long hanging sweaters to help design hanging space that would fit all of my clothing. He also designed a closet for our son that would allow for change as he gets older with the ability to move shelves to allow for more hanging space. The digital renderings were so cool to see so we could really envision what our closet would look like and then made some modifications to the design.
